To my children
My father has been fighting prostate cancer for few years and now they found advanced liver cancer. They found it during CT to treat prostate cancer. He has lost 5 pounds in just two months.
Yesterday I was taking him to the doctor’s office. While I was driving, he asked me, “Do you think there is heaven for us?”
I was not expecting such question from him at that moment and hesitated. Then I told him. “I am not sure. Since no one ever came back from the heaven, it is hard to tell.” My father looked outside through the side window for few minutes and said, “Probably, there is no heaven. People just made it up.”
Then, I realized that I made a mistake. I should have told him with the conviction, “Yes, father, there sure is heaven. Even if you don’t go there immediately, through our prayers, you would go to heaven. There you will meet grandpa, grandma, and uncle who went there earlier.”
Knowing he is getting closer to the death, how afraid he must be. I should have comforted him with the strong convincing message. I was a fool.
