메이저 7 punctuation 의 마지막인 괄호입니다:

Parentheses (괄호) 에 대한 일반적인 rule 들은 아래와 같습니다:

Parentheses (often considered weak dashes) are like a sideshow; they are used to enclose a word or words that aren’t integral to the meaning of the sentence. A parenthetical expression is one that does not change the meaning of the sentence (괄호는 약한 대쉬라고도 하며, 문장 내에서는 필요하기는 하나 중요성이 떨어지는 참조용 요소들을 묶는 데 사용함).

1) Use them around an expression that you want to de-emphasize (좀 덜 강조하고 싶은, 숨기고 싶지만 문장 내 필요하긴 한 요소를 묶는 데 사용함).

- This brand of software (as unbiased tests have disclosed) is more powerful than what you are currently using.

2) Use them around references to charts, pages, authors, and so on (페이지 번호, 참조번호 등의 요소를 묶는 데 사용).

- Please read the section on fossils (pages 36 – 52).

3) Use them to enclose numerals or letters that precede items in a series (한 문장 안에서 할 말이 많을 때 잘 보일 수 있도록 숫자 또는 레터를 삽입 시 사용).

- We are hoping to (a) meet the mayor, (b) express our views, and (c) submit our petition.
