A Rainy Morning in May
벚꽃이 지고 난 5월의 밴쿠버
(C) Flying Pie지난 한 달 여 동안 세상에 가득했던 벚꽃들이 거짓말처럼 다 사라진 5월의 밴쿠버, 과연 어떨 것 같으세요? 길어지는 해와 더불어 나날이 짙어가는 녹음 속에서, 다양한 색깔의 진달래와 철쭉, 마로니에와 물푸레나무들, 그리고 이름 모를 갖가지 들꽃들이 천지에 만발하여 여전히 시끌벅적 난리법석입니다.
오늘 아침, 꽃향기를 가득 머금은 조용한 비를 맞으며 한참을 달리고 왔습니다. 비 오는 주말 아침은 거리가 조용해서 달리기에 더 좋습니다. 달리면서 말기 암으로 호스피스 병원에 계신 아내의 큰고모님을 위해서 기도했습니다. 지난 2011년 아내와 결혼할 당시, 촌티 폴폴 나는 신 선생을 이태원에 있는 아주 오래된 단골 맞춤 양복점으로 데려가셔서, 마치 당신 친조카의 옷을 해 입히듯 정성을 다해 양복을 맞춰주시던 고모님의 밝고 건강하시던 모습이 생각나서 마음이 아팠습니다. 부디 더 이상 고통받지 않으시고, 가족들의 보살핌 속에서 평화롭게 남은 시간을 보내실 수 있기를 기도합니다.
A rainy Saturday morning.
As I step outside for a run,
cool, fresh air greets me-
Hey, my friend, how are you today?
Enjoy your run!
I inhale deeply as if
the air could cleanse my whole being.
I fill up my lungs,
hold the breath,
then slowly exhale, imagining
all my worries and cravings
leaving my body with the breath.
The cherry blossoms are long gone—
so completely vanished
as if they were never here.
But now, azaleas have taken their place,
bursting in full bloomp—
pink, red, purple, yellow,
and the rare orange—my favourite.
Their scent mingles with the rain.
As I run, raindrops
infused with floral perfume
fall softly on me,
touching not only my skin,
but something deeper—
my soul.
