When Boredom hits you

by Flying Pie

Hey myself,

When boredom, quietly waiting

beneath the subconscious, rises again

even when you're busy, beware.

It can sweep through you like a storm.

Blessings you cherished yesterday

suddenly feel like a trap today.

What’s this indescribable feeling of thirst–

a sense of entitlement,

a narcissistic self-centeredness?

But wait—perhaps there is truth in it.

Maybe it is a call from your hungry soul,

urging you to rise beyond who you are now.

The small comforts you enjoy

may hold you exactly where you are,

keeping you from reaching for a better self–

a gentle snare, a double-edged sword.

Is it too early to settle for what is now?
Should you still strive for something better?
Will your future self regret

not trying hard enough in his middle age?

Do you believe that

your best days are still ahead?

Then listen.
Move a little farther than comfort allows.
Choose the path that stretches you.
Leave a trace your future self will thank you for.
