The Beacon and the Star

귀 빠진 날, 사모곡

by Flying Pie

The mother stood like a beacon,

steady and bright,

reminding her young albatrosses out at sea

that land was near, that hope still mattered,

and that they must keep flying.

Above the ocean,

as the sun rises and the winds awaken,

the birds feel held, watched over, belonging

to something greater than themselves.

But in time,

the beacon’s flame begins to fade.

Its light grows faint,

and someday it will no longer shine.

Darkness will surround them,

and the path will seem uncertain.

Yet still, the birds must go on.

For when the beacon finally goes dark,

a radiant evening star will appear

in the northern sky.

The mother, once a lighthouse of this world,

becomes a celestial guide—an eternal light.

And in that starlight,

the birds continue their journey,

glowing softly with its reflection

as they fly on into the night.
