In 2025, Yom Ha’atzmaut (Israel’s Independence Day) was observed from the evening of Wednesday, April 30 to the evening of Thursday, May 1.
This marked the 77th anniversary of the establishment of the State of Israel.
Traditionally, Yom Ha’atzmaut falls on the 5th of Iyar in the Hebrew calendar.
However, to prevent conflicts with the Jewish Sabbath, the date is sometimes adjusted. In 2025, the celebration was held on the 3rd of Iyar.
The holiday commenced immediately after Yom HaZikaron (Memorial Day), which honors fallen Israeli soldiers and victims of terrorism.
The transition is marked by a state ceremony at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, featuring speeches, performances, and the ceremonial lighting of twelve torches representing the twelve tribes of Israel

Typically, Yom Ha’atzmaut is celebrated with public events such as fireworks, concerts, barbecues, and air shows.
However, in 2025, the annual Israel Air Force flyover was canceled due to ongoing conflict.
