The Saab GlobalEye is a state-of-the-art Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) aircraft, integrating multi-domain surveillance capabilities for air, sea, and land:

What Is GlobalEye?

• Built on the Bombardier Global 6000/6500 business jet, retrofitted by Saab in Sweden .

• Equipped with the Erieye ER AESA radar, capable of long-range detection and tracking across multiple domains .

Key Capabilities

• Air Surveillance: Detects fighter-sized targets at over 450 km, and up to 550 km at altitude .

• Maritime Ops: Includes Seaspray 7500E radar, AIS, EO, and ISAR sensors—can detect small vessels and even periscopes .

• Ground Surveillance: Detects moving ground targets via GMTI, day or night and in all weather .

• Endurance: At least 11 hours airborne, with an instrumented reach exceeding 650 km .

Operational Use & Orders

UAE Air Force: First customer; 5 delivered between 2020–2024 under its Swing Role Surveillance System (SRSS) program .

Swedish Air Force: Ordered 2 in 2022 (with option for 2 more); first in conversion now, deliveries expected from 2027 .

France: Signed LOI for 2 with option for 2 more at Paris Air Show 2025; procurement pending contract finalization .

• Potential operators: Canada (competing with Boeing E‑7), NATO, Nordic countries (Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway), South Korea, Qatar .

Strategic Appeal

Multi-domain fusion: Consolidates air, sea, and land surveillance in one platform with unified C2 .

• Stealth & jamming resistant: AESA technology and GaN in Erieye ER boost performance in cluttered or contested electromagnetic environments .

• Denial of dependencies: Allows nations to avoid reliance on U.S.-centric systems, appealing to NATO and regional partnerships .

• Production scalability: Saab now aims to deliver up to 4 aircraft annually to meet rising global demand .

Why It Matters

• Force multiplier: Extends situational awareness, command capabilities, and response readiness across multiple theaters.

• Market leader: Unique in combining long-range radars with maritime and ground tracking in a single aircraft.

• Geopolitical fit: Attractive for collaborative defense strategies (e.g., Nordic defense integration, NATO AWACS modernization).
