간만에 짧은 이야기로 가져왔다.
표현만 쉽고 문장을 짧게 다듬었다. 그 외에는 원작인 A Riddling Tale 과 동일하다.
Petals 발음에 주의하면서 읽도록 하자.
(Pedals 와 거의 유사한 발음인데, 헷갈려서 t 발음을 세게 하는 경우가 있다.)
The Three Flower-Women
Once upon a time, in a quiet green field,
there were three pretty flowers, standing still and sweet.
But guess what? They weren’t just flowers.
They were really three women, under a magic spell.
All day long, they looked just like real flowers—
soft, colorful, and still as statues.
But at night, one of them was given a special gift.
She could turn back into a woman and go home to her husband.
She stayed with him through the night,
but before the sun came up,
she had to go back to the field and turn into a flower again.
One night, she whispered to her husband,
“If you come to the field tomorrow afternoon
and pick the right flower—that’s me!—the spell will break.
I’ll be free. And I’ll stay with you forever.”
The next day, he went to the field.
But oh no! All three flowers looked exactly the same!
Same color. Same shape. Same size.
Which one was his wife?
He looked closely.
He looked very, very carefully.
Then… he smiled.
He reached out… and picked one.
And yes—it was her!
Do you know how he knew?
The other two flowers had stood in the cold night air,
so their petals were covered in little drops of morning dew.
But his wife had been safe and warm at home—
and her petals were dry.
