Their Stories

They've been busy since dawn.

F and G, who were babysitting overnight, take a moment to say hello to C and D as they arrive for their shift.

C and D ask if any of the children had a fever or were restless during the night.

F and G shake their heads.

C and D casually glance around the nursery and make eye contact with F and G.

After leaving the nursery, F and G pass through the largest room in the basement of the mansion, the room where Alpha stays, and enter the smaller room next door. A and B are already there, tucked up in bed. After a quick bow to F and G, A and B hurry upstairs to the third floor.

When they arrive in the kitchen, there are vegetables and cuts of meat for today's menu. A and B first chop the vegetables and mix them with jelly to make baby food for the children. Then they chop and chop and chop the vegetables and meat for the other people who are staying in the mansion with them. They don't say a word, just go about their business.

A and B's actions are rhythmic. There is silence in the kitchen. Before you know it, they've made 16 servings. Six are baby food. The 10th serving is a little more bulky. Next to them is a slightly different color of food. Now they leave the kitchen and first they enter a dark room on the second floor, where I and J are moving around between the beds, taking care of something. A and B give them some more bulky food and head to the end of the hallway on the second floor. They reach a door painted green. As they open it, E and H, who are doing the recycling, turn their heads toward A and B. A and B give them a quick bow, place two servings of the slightly bulkier food in one corner of their workspace, and exit the room.

Now A and B go down the stairs to the first floor at the end of the second floor hallway. They head for the nursery, which is about halfway down the first floor hallway.

They open the door and hand C and D six servings of baby food and two slightly bulkier servings. Again, A and B leave the nursery and walk down the hallway. At the end of the hallway on the first floor, they take the stairs down to the basement. Open the door to the small break room near the stairs and give F and G two slightly bulkier servings. Again, A and B go to Alpha's room in the center of the hallway. They give Alpha a slightly bulkier and differently colored portion of food and take it to her side. A scoops up the food and gives it to her by the spoonful. B checks every inch of her body. When Alpha finishes eating, they stay by her side and take turns eating their food in order.

After A and B finish eating, A and B clean alpha's body.

She is a bit chubbier and taller than A and B, but her body is weakened from having recently delivered triplets. A and B carefully clean her, going over every inch of her body again. Alpha is grateful for their care. When A and B have helped Alpha enough, they pass through the largest room in the manor's basement, the room where Alpha stays, and enter a smaller room next door. A and B meet F and G, who are resting, and after a brief bow, they move into the smaller room to rest. F and G leave the house to gather herbs and food from outside the house.

F and G are busy gathering herbs outside the house.

They've already filled their bags with food. Now they just need to collect some more herbs to reduce the fever. During the night, the children in I and J's room had a fever, and Alpha had a fever due to postpartum pain, so F and G diligently searched for fever-reducing herbs and collected them in their bags.

F and G come home after gathering food and herbs and prepare them in the kitchen on the third floor. They first chop vegetables and mix jelly to make baby food for the children, just as A and B did. F and G give Alpha a slightly bulkier, different-colored food to her side. F scoops the food into her mouth. G checks every inch of her body.

When Alpha finishes eating, they stay by her side and take turns eating their food in order.After F and G finish eating, A and B clean her up. She is slightly plumper and taller than F and G, but she has recently given birth to triplets and is weakened. F and G carefully clean her, going over every inch of her body again. Alpha is grateful for their care. When F and G have helped Alpha enough, they pass through the largest room in the manor's basement, the room where Alpha stays, and enter a smaller room next door. F and G meet E and H, who are resting, and after a brief bow, they move into the smaller room to rest.

E and H search the house for trash. They collect food waste from the third floor where F and G prepared food. On the second floor, they pass by two rooms, carefully opening the door and removing the garbage inside. They collect the remains of herbs that someone had used to relieve a fever. They pass through the first floor and head down to the basement. They clean Alpha's room very thoroughly, diligently searching for the remains of postpartum discharge, herbs used to treat fevers, and food scraps. They realize that if she is sick and cannot give birth to a child, things will be very difficult for them. If Alpha gives birth well, the community stays together.
