Meet our instructors
Venerable Master XianZhi
(Meditation Instructor)
Master XianZhi is the abbot of Dharma Treasury Temple, a San Francisco branch of Bodhi Light International (BLI). He began practicing Chan meditation in 2013 under Master YongHua and soon after left the home life to fully commit to the Buddhist path. Deeply transformed by American Mahayana Buddhism, Master XianZhi is devoted to learning, sharing, and growing with others who wish to explore this path together.
Venerable XianAn 현안스님
(Meditation Instructor)
Venerable XianAn, a Korean American Buddhist nun and disciple of Master YongHua, began practicing Chan meditation as a young entrepreneur in the U.S. Inspired by its profound impact, she became a monastic in 2019 and returned to Korea. She now teaches Chan meditation in both the U.S. and Korea, sharing its transformative power.
Jung, HyeYoon 정혜윤
(Yoga Instructor)
HyeYoon is a seasoned Ashtanga and Hatha yoga instructor from Korea since 2012, has led instructor training for the National Diplomatic Service (since 2016) and the Supreme Prosecutors' Office (since 2022). In 2023, she encountered Wei Yang Buddhism and American Chan meditation, blending these practices into her teachings. She now supports BLI's meditation classes in Seoul, combining yoga and Buddhist meditation.
Steffen Wankmüller
(German Interpreter and organizer)
Steffen, a medical doctor from Hamburg and father of two, discovered American Chan Meditation in 2022 after over a decade of practicing Shaolin Kung Fu. Recognizing its enormous benefits, he is committed to sharing Chan with others and provides German translation support when needed.
