Kellogg, Haas, Anderson: MBA 실제 면접 질문
인터뷰를 빨리 끝내고 싶었던 나는 모두 10월 중순으로 인터뷰를 잡아버린다. 10월 초부터 2주 정도 면접 준비를 했다.
MBA interview schedule2주 만에 인터뷰 준비 끝내기
1. MBA 면접 질문들을 리스트 업 하여 스크립트를 작성했다. 어떤 질문에 어떤 대답을 할 지 생각을 정리해놓기 위한 용도였으며 스크립트를 읽지는 않았다.
2. Ringle을 통하여 스크립트 첨삭을 받았다. 분명히 물어볼 것 같은 질문 3개 정도만 의견을 구했고, 그 방식을 적용해 나머지 질문들도 수정 변경 했다.
3. Mock interview를 많이 하라고 한다. 나는 친구와 한 번, Ringle 통해서 두 번 정도 했고 나머지는 그냥 혼자 영상을 찍어서 보면서 수정해내갔다.
MBA Interview Questions
꼭 준비해야하는 interview question은 3개이다.
Q1: Walk me through your resume
I've moved around a lot, but mostly lived in Seoul 이런 식으로 본인이 성장환경을 간단히 소개하는 경우가 많은 것 같았다. 나도 한 줄 정도 추가했다.
나머지는 resume 순서대로 설명을 했다. 대학생 때의 전공과 해당 전공을 선택한 이유를 설명했다. 첫 직장과 담당했던 업무를 이야기 한 후, 직무를 변경한 계기를 설명하고 새로 담당하고 있는 일을 소개했다.
Q2: Why MBA? Why this school?
첫 질문에는 MBA에서 얻고싶은 점이 무엇인지를 설명했다. Business와 technology에 대한 인사이트를 얻고 싶고, industry change를 하고 싶다고 설명했다.
두 번째 질문은 그 중에서 왜 우리 학교이냐에 초점을 맞춘다. Tech에 강점이 있는 학교이며 collaboration을 강조하는 문화가 나와 잘 맞는다고 이야기 했다.
혹시 학교를 방문했거나, admission session에 참가했거나, student/alumi와 연락한 내용이 있다면 대답할 때 해당 내용을 녹이는 것이 좋다.
Q3: Any questions?
어떤 인터뷰어를 만나더라도 사용할 수 있는 질문을 3~4개 정도 생각해놨다. 학생인 경우에는 you and your peers, 졸업생인 경우에는 industry perspective, 학교인 경우에는 students 라고 바꿔서 질문했다.

Which class had the biggest impact on your career journey, and why?
Looking back, is there anything you would have done differently during your MBA?

Haas Interview Questions
4년 째 인터뷰어로 활동하고 있는 alumni와 면접을 봤다. 학교에서 제공하는 질문지가 있는데 해당 질문들만 묻고 follow-up question 하나도 없이 15분만에 끝났다. 또 하나 신기한 점은 Walk me through your resume 질문이 없어서 다른 질문에 최대한 녹여내고자 했다.
1. Why are you pursuing an MBA, and why Haas would be an ideal place?
2. Tell me about a time you took a risk professionally. What was its consequence?
3. Tell me about your experience with diversity, equity, or justice. How can you contribue to DEI at Haas?
4. How would you persuade a colleague to take on a task outside of their normal responsibilities?
5. Tell me something that does not show up in your resume.
Kellogg Interview Questions
커리어에 대한 구체적인 질문이 많았던 점이 조금 특이했다. 여기서 follow-up 질문들이 많았고 그 후에는 제너럴한 MBA 질문을 받고 끝났다. Why Kellogg, Why MBA는 공통으로 나오는 질문 같았다.
1. Tell me about your day.
2. Describe the project that you are currently working on.
3. What is your biggest accomplishment? What was your role?
4. Tell me about a time when you identified a gap in leadership. How did you step up to address it, and what was the outcome?
5. How would others describe your leadership style?
6. What was the most constructive feedback you've received? How have you changed?
7. Why are you pursuing an MBA?
8. Why would Kellogg be a good fit for you?
9. Where do you see yourself post-MBA? (career goal)
10. What is your back-up plan, if you cannot achieve your career goal?
11. How have others contributed to your success?
12. Anything you'd like to add on?
Anderson Interview Questions
Haas 때와 마찬가지로 학교에서 제공한 질문지를 바탕으로 인터뷰가 진행이 됐다. 가장 캐주얼하고 편안한 분위기었고, 첫 5개 질문은 거의 공통인 것으로 보였다. 가장 평이하고 무난했다.

2. Why Anderson?
3. What can you contribute to Anderson?
4. What is your short-term & long-term goal?
5. What is your back-up plan, if you cannot achieve your career goal?
6. Can you share a significant challenge you’ve faced, either professionally or personally?
