한국 은행들, 일본 컨소시엄의 시범 운영 테스트에 참여
(도쿄) SBI Ripple Asia(https://ripple.com/sbi-ripple-asia/)가 일본에서 경험을 토대로 2017년 하반기까지 일본과 한국 은행들을 잇는 블록체인 기반 해외송금 시스템을 시범 테스트한다.
SBI 홀딩스(http://www.sbigroup.co.jp/english/)는 한국의 블록체인 기술사인 DAYLI Intelligence와 협력하여 사업을 진행한다. 가상화폐 결제를 블록체인 상에서 테스트할 예정이며, 특히 참여자들이 각각의 거래 결과 사본을 대조할 수 있도록 하는 과정이 포함된다. 이렇게 분산형으로 거래 내역을 기록하는 제도를 통해 송금이 시간에 구애받지 않고 언제든 가능하도록 하며,전통적인 청산결제 시스템보다 훨씬 비용이 적게 소요될 수 있다.
SBI Ripple Asia는 일본 은행 컨소시엄을 이끌면서 블록체인 기반 송금을 시험 중이며, 흔히 Ripple이라고 지칭하는 "XRP" 같은 가상화폐를 이용한 송금도 테스트 중이다. 이 컨소시엄에는 현재 60개 이상의 파트너사가 포함되어 있으며, 그중에서도 일본의 가장 큰 메이저 은행 3사 - 미츠비시 UFJ 금융 그룹, 미쓰이 스미토모(Sumitomo Mitsui) 금융그룹, 미츠오(Mizuho)금융 그룹- 를 포함하여 일본 전역의 지역 은행들이 가입되어 있다.
한국의 금융 기관들 또한 은행 간 송금 결제 시스템에 관심을 보이고 있다. SBI Ripple Asia와의 해외 제휴는 일본 전문가들과 최첨단 기술을 융합하여 블록체인 기반 송금을 한국에 확산시키는 것을 목표로 한다.
SBI Ripple Asia는 블록체인과 가상화폐의 리서치와 실험을 진행하기 위해서 이번 2017년 10월부터 엔지니어들을 대상으로 관련 기술 및 업무 교육 프로그램을 진행한다. 노무라종합연구소(Nomura Research Institute), 토판프린팅(Toppan Printing), NEX 등 20개 회사들이 가장 먼저 프로그램에 참여할 예정이다. (닛케이)

SBI unit to test cross-border blockchain funds transfers
South Korean banks join experiments involving Japanese consortium
TOKYO -- SBI Ripple Asia looks to begin testing a funds-transfer system using blockchain technology between Japanese and South Korean banks by the end of fiscal 2017, applying experience gained from experiments in Japan.
The SBI Holdings unit will work with DAYLI Intelligence, a provider of blockchain technology, on the South Korean side. The payments experiment using virtual currency will run on blockchain, which involves having participants confirm a transaction by comparing their own copies of the register logging all transactions within a system. This decentralized record-keeping scheme allows money to be sent at any time and entails far lower costs than a conventional clearing arrangement.
SBI Ripple Asia leads a consortium of Japanese banks that are experimenting with blockchain-based transfers, including those using the virtual currency XRP, often referred to as Ripple. That group counts more than 60 participants, including Japan's three megabanks -- Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group and Mizuho Financial Group -- as well as regional banks across the country.
South Korea's financial institutions also are taking a greater interest in blockchain as an interbank funds settlement method. Cross-border partnerships such as that with SBI Ripple Asia aim to popularize blockchain-based payments in that country by blending Japanese expertise with new technologies.
SBI Ripple Asia and its parent will begin a program in October to train engineers in the intricacies of blockchain and virtual currencies, aiming to promote research and experimentation in those areas. Around 20 companies, including Nomura Research Institute, Toppan Printing and NEC, are first on the list to take part in the program. (Nikkei)
