예레미아 22장은 압재자의 횡포와 이방인/고아/과부에 대한 대한 폭력과 무고한 피를 흘리는 것과 노동의 댓가를 치르지 않는 ‘불의’에 대한 경고의 말씀으로 가득차다.
그러나 교회 예배당에서는 성서의 경고가 개인적인 차원으로만 해석되어 ‘왜 잘 먹고 잘 살지 못하느냐?’ 그 이유가 이방 종교를 믿는 것 때문이라고만 제한된다. 성경의 본문 내용이 본질을 떠나 ‘개인적인 곤경과 심리적인 차원과 교회 열심히 다녀라’로 귓가에 윙윙거린다.
개개인이 다시 성경을 있는 그대로 읽어야 한다. 예레미아 22장을 읽고 ‘개인적인 고비의 순간’으로 바뀌어 이상한 말의 잔치가 펼쳐진다. 참혹하다.

3 This is what the LORD says: Do what is just and right. Rescue from the hand of his oppressor the one who has been robbed. Do no wrong or violence to the alien, the fatherless or the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place.
13 "Woe to him who builds his palace by unrighteousness, his upper rooms by injustice, making his countrymen work for nothing, not paying them for their labor.
16 He defended the cause of the poor and needy, and so all went well. Is that not what it means to know me?" declares the LORD.
