That was the end of the video. Violet sat on the chair in front of the table, covering her face with her hands.
Alexander calculated quickly what he had to do next. He sent that video to his own phone, and to hers.
First of all, figuring out the suspects' whereabouts by mapping through the scene of the crime would be key, at least for now. It seemed to be impossible to find the exact area where the crime took place just from video.
"You wanna catch them, don't you?"
He asked.
She nodded slowly.
"You'd better help me, then,"
he stood up, speaking in a businesslike manner.
"From the area where you were kidnapped to the area where you were dropped off, tell me everything: as much as you can remember. It would best to get this information quickly, so,"
he glanced at her, alarmed. She was glaring at him with a grudged gaze, eyes welling up with tears.
"What? What's the matter?"
He asked impatiently.
"Can't you not talk like that? Can't you just care about just me? Does only the case matter to you?"
She began to wail loudly. Alexander was dumbfounded. After a moment, he tried to speak much more gently.
"You said you wanted to catch them. To punish them."
"What's it got to do with me? I've already been messed up. Even if you punish them, will it help me be as I was before I became this wreck of a human being? Am I not seen in your eyes?"
He knew she was speaking nonsense, but he didn't try to speak back, considering her condition.
Alexander didn't know what to say to her. He just suggested.
"Hey, uh . . . Let's go to my place. You can take a rest there. You want to?"
She nodded.
"I want you to visit a doctor. You should check how badly you were injured."
"Not now,”
she said in a quiet voice. He didn't bother her anymore about it. He helped her to walk, and get into his car. He drove home with her.
He took her back to his place, and walked her in through the front door. She looked exhausted.
"Look, you can sleep on the couch, okay? If you need anything, just let me know. When you feel better though, I want you to get some help."
"I don't want to be alone," she said,
"Do you think you can stay with me tonight?"
"Don't worry, my bedroom is just down the hallway, across from the bathroom. I won't be far away."
