돈의 폭력성

옛 소설 '우리들의 일그러진 영웅' 에서도, 옛 영화 '말죽거리 잔혹사' 에서도
최상위 포식자 앞에서 벌벌 떠는 학생들의 모습이
내가 회사에서 느끼는 감정과
묘하게 닮아 있다는 사실에 스스로 화가 났다.
결국 돈이라는 권력 앞에 무릎을 꿇은 내 자신이 미웠다.
하지만 회사를 벗어난다고 한 들
달라지는 것은 오직 그 대상일 뿐이다.
나는 항상 누군가로부터 돈을 받거나, 주어야 하는 입장이니
갑을관계는 벗어날 수 없는 속박이다.
그 권위와 폭력 앞에 당당히 가슴을 활짝 펴고 맞서야 한다.
의도하진 않았지만,
결국에는 얽히고설켜,
회사에 낙인이 찍혀버리는 날에는
그저 경제적 자유가 준비 안 된 스스로를 한탄할 뿐이다.
결국 벗어나기 위한 길은 준비가 되고 나서다.
우리는 준비해야 한다.
포식자에게 대항할 수 있는 것은
포식자에게 잡아 먹히지 않을 힘이다.
그 힘은 나를 자유롭게 해 준다.
이 폭력의 속박에서 벗어나게 해 준다.
그 힘을 키우는 것 중 핵심은
의식의 변화다.
의식의 변화는 한순간에 이루어지지 않는다.
그래서 사람들은 '독서'를 추천한다.
나를 위한 공부가 결국은 폭력으로부터 벗어나게 해 줄 것이다.
