It's funny how intense feelings of pain, fear and uncertainty feel like they go on forever when we are experiencing them. It's as if time is stretching and slowing down — the world is only that experience. When we are in such an intense moment, it is difficult to envision change or realize that there is more than just that feeling. Everything we feel in those times has the illusion of being permanent when, in fact, nothing is permanent.
And then one day, it just doesn't hurt the same.
