Plan of action and criteria for success
Overview of the plan with timelines and milestones
I break the milestone into 6 steps from planning to running BCS technology. Firstly, I would apply for AI tech funding competition organized by governments or venture fund in 2020. I would make a roadmap for developing BCS application using AI technology including vision, marketing, operation and even exit or expansion scenario. Second, I would complete the ver. 1.0 of BCS application and show this app to trade show organizers and events planners in Asia. I think I can participate convention and trade show related to experience marketing industry, and speech about BCS model and value. Third, I would test my BCS to several trade shows over 20,000 sqm. Actually 20,000 sqm is a standard to be recognized as a global trade show. Usually 1,300 booths and 20,000 visitors join in the size of 20,000 sqm of trade show. It would be a best testbed for testifying BCS. Fourth, I would get the feedback from show organizer and visitors who test BCS, and I would modify errors and upgrade for better results. Fifth I could promote globally to extend market size. China, U.S and Germany are global leaders in trade show industry, so I would find a global partner for international marketing. Finally, I would be global leader delivering value for global markets.
The key stakeholders for rolling out
MICE industry including trade show and convention is a growing as a service business not only in private sector but also in local governments. Seoul, for example, is a No.1 global city for hosting international convention. Moreover, Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Korea is trying to develop IT technologies for enhancing MICE business globally. So trade show organizers should be a first stakeholder to share database and test, also local and central governments have to be involved for supporting and rolling out BCS technology.
The organizational aspects
I think the most important thing is organization’s understating and supporting of running business. Actually I didn’t find any AI technologies applied in trade show industry yet, which means that it might not easy to let organization invest time and budget to develop AI technologies. Also CEO should find customers who want to use, also get supports from associations or community to promote and sell.
How I intend to manage the initiative
Even though BCS can do the process of analyzing data and recommendation, Human-in-the-loop approach should be engaged in machine learning process. First, humans should label data. This gives BCS high quality so that machines learn and make decision more precisely. Second, humans tune and test the result of machine learning process. People should test and validate the result by measuring its outputs, or feedback from the people who actually follow the result. As humans do the role of filtering data and tuning the process, machine would do better in analyzing and proposing recommendation based on each humans’ needs.
Any ethical issues and impacts on jobs
Organizations could save cost by utilizing BCS base on AI, but it might affect badly the life of workers and economically disadvantaged family as AI can replace human. I think this could make negative impact to society as jobs would decrease. Therefore, government and organization should make appropriate policy balancing the use of AI and humans.
