현명한 사람들에게 칭송받고

아이들의 애정을 얻는 것.

정직한 비평가에게 찬사를 듣고

잘못된 친구의 배신을 인내하는 것.

아름다운 것에 감사할 줄 알고,

남에게서 가장 좋은 장점을 발견하는 것.

한 뼘의 정원을 가꾸든지,

사회 환경을 개선하든지,

조금이라도 더 나은 세상을

만들고 떠나는 것.

나의 존재로 인해

다른 누군가 한명이라도 더 나은 삶을

살 수 있었다는 것을 알게 되는 것.

이것이 진정한 성공이다.
