의인의 생각은 정직하여도

개역개정 잠언 12장

5. 의인의 생각은 정직하여도 악인의 도모는 속임이니라

The plans of the righteous are just,

but the advice of the wicked is deceitful.

6. 악인의 말은 사람을 엿보아 피를 흘리자 하는 것이거니와 정직한 자의 입은 사람을 구원하느니라

The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood,

but the speech of the upright rescues them.

7. 악인은 엎드러져서 소멸되려니와 의인의 집은 서 있으리라

The wicked are overthrown and are no more,

but the house of the righteous stands firm.

8. 사람은 그 지혜대로 칭찬을 받으려니와 마음이 굽은 자는 멸시를 받으리라

A person is praised according to their prudence,

and one with a warped mind is despised.

9. 비천히 여김을 받을지라도 종을 부리는 자는 스스로 높은 체하고도 음식이 핍절한 자보다 나으니라

Better to be a nobody and yet have a servant

than pretend to be somebody and have no food.

10. 의인은 자기의 가축의 생명을 돌보나 악인의 긍휼은 잔인이니라

The righteous care for the needs of their animals,

but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.

11. 자기의 토지를 경작하는 자는 먹을 것이 많거니와 방탕한 것을 따르는 자는 지혜가 없느니라

Those who work their land will have abundant food,

but those who chase fantasies have no sense.

12. 악인은 불의의 이익을 탐하나 의인은 그 뿌리로 말미암아 결실하느니라

The wicked desire the stronghold of evildoers,

but the root of the righteous endures.

13. 악인은 입술의 허물로 말미암아 그물에 걸려도 의인은 환난에서 벗어나느니라

Evildoers are trapped by their sinful talk,

and so the innocent escape trouble.

14. 사람은 입의 열매로 말미암아 복록에 족하며 그 손이 행하는 대로 자기가 받느니라

From the fruit of their lips people are filled with good things,

and the work of their hands brings them reward.

15. 미련한 자는 자기 행위를 바른 줄로 여기나 지혜로운 자는 권고를 듣느니라

The way of fools seems right to them,

but the wise listen to advice.

16. 미련한 자는 당장 분노를 나타내거니와 슬기로운 자는 수욕을 참느니라

Fools show their annoyance at once,

but the prudent overlook an insult.
