16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
In case we are in a court, we are listening to a judge's verdict, and we should do follow it as it has authorities that no one can oppose against. Here is the verdict of God as a judge: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light, because their deeds were evil. What a simple and clear verdict of this world! Whoever does not believe in the name of God's one and only son stands already condemned.
People who do not know the Light and do not accept Him as their judge or Savior of life are already suffering from condemnations. However, they don't want to expose their deeds and thoughts to the Light as they are in darkness, stubbornly denying or hesitating to come to the Light. Actually, coming to the Light is the easiest and simplest way to be freed from all kinds of condemnations and feel the joy and peace in heaven. But they tend to come to see a doctor or counselor, or psychologist, etc., who will never heal or save them from the essential sickness or let them free from the chains of sins.
Living by the truth means coming into the light and staying in the light, through which God is to show Himself and stop the world from staying in darkness and chaos. One thing I want to be in life is to be the light itself, even though it is small and dim like one of a firefly at night. As I was also in darkness, having sought the little light of life, I want to share my pleasure or joy of staying in Light to someone in a deep despair of darkness, though it is so little that it is not to be seen in this bright and colorful lights of the world.
