It is reported that internal testing at Meta showed performance lagging behind competitors Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic models.
Furthermore, it is said that the company even considered licensing Google's AI model, Gemini.
Meta has spent billions of dollars recruiting top-tier AI researchers. It also committed ~$600 billion in building data centers. Meta's AI-related spending this year is projected to reach ~$135 billion, double that of last year.
