Misczak was in charge of the daycare center's finances, and the center's founder, D’Souza, discovered that tuition fees were being deposited into Misczak's PayPal account. According to the prosecution, over 450 deposits were made into her account over more than three years.
Misczak deleted tuition invoices and PayPal deposit emails.
Misczak was fired from the daycare center and, as a result, cannot legally remain in the United States and could face eviction from the two apartments leased from the daycare center.
D’Souza stated that she felt a significant sense of betrayal by this incident, noting that she always sided with Misczak even when there were parent complaints, that Misczak refused a raise from her current salary ($40,000), and that she relied heavily on Misczak.
