태양의 모방
우리 중 하나의 심장이 떠올랐다
다 타버린 하늘 속으로 높이
그것은 쇠 잡초가 무성한
태양의 길을 따라 움직여 떠났다
그리고 까맣게 숯검댕이 된 지평선 뒤로 저물었다
우리는 헛되이 그것이 돌아오기를 기다렸다
금빛 사과 운반자*와 함께
또는 적어도 열두 개의 불타는 가지와 함께
그때 이후로 우리 모두는 지니고 다닌다
충직한 갈비뼈에 고정된
무거운 사슬에 묶인 우리의 심장을
Imitation of the sun
The heart of one of us rose
High into the burnt-out heaven
It moved off along the sun's path
Overgrown with iron weeds
And set behind the charred horizon
We waited in vain for it to return
With the golden apple-bearer
Or at least with twelve fiery branches
Since then we all carry
Our hearts on a heavy chain
Fastened to a faithful rib
