오랜만에 꽤나 힘을 썼다. 기분 좋았다.

시간은 빠르게 흘러가고 있다는 사실.

<오늘의 이야기>

‘Come back to bed’라는 노래를 듣고 빠져버렸다.

2003년. 내가 태어난 그 해에, 바다 건너 호주 어딘가에서 기가 맥힌 라이브 공연을 했던 john mayer.

그 무대의 영상을 찾아서 1시간짜리 영상을 계속해서 들었다. 중간중간 넘기며 들었지만, 좋은 노래들을 많이 찾아낼 수 있었다.

막 자랑해댔다. 너무 좋아서. 나누고 떠들고 싶어지는 이 마음이란..

그 노래들 중에 ’no such thing’이라는 노래가 있다.

초반 도입부에 일렉기타가 시동을 거는 타이밍이 예술이다. 일렉기타와 통기타가 서로 엇갈리며 노래를 시작하는 느낌이랄까.

처음에는 가사도 없이 멜로디만 줄곧 들었다.

그것만으로도 좋으니까.

하지만 그렇게 자주 듣게 되면, 더 알고 싶어진다.

좋아하는 사람에게 그런 마음이 드는 것처럼.

그렇게 가사를 찾으니, 유튜브에 어떤 영상이 나왔다.

그의 인터뷰와 함께 라이브를 하는 영상인데, 영상의 댓글을 보면 그의 노래에 대한 자세한 설명이 있다.

놀라웠고, 좀 신이 났다. 기뻤다.

잘 나가는 스타가수인 이 사람도 나와 비슷한 경험이 있구나..싶어서.
