The psalmist begins the song

with thanksgiving and praise.
The psalmist accurately describes

his relationship with God.
"He is our God,

and we are the people of His pasture,
the sheep of His hand.

Listen to His voice."
Our God, His people.
Where in the world could there be a happier relationship than this?
The God the psalmist confesses is

the One who created the entire universe.
He is the Lord of the entire universe.
The poet knows this fact.
This alone is cause for overflowing gratitude.
And yet,

he himself is one of God’s people.
Hallelujah!
Now the poet cries out to the world:
“If He calls you,

if He calls you by name,
and you hear His voice...”
In John 10, Jesus taught,
“The sheep listen only to the voice of the Good Shepherd and follow him.”
If we hear God’s voice today

—the voice of God calling us—
we must follow unconditionally.

We must listen and obey.
For that voice is heard only by His own people,

His own flock.
Therefore, those who hear the voice

must not be stubborn.
For if they are, there is no other way.

God is calling me.
He called me yesterday,
and He calls me today.
His voice is heard even in the stillness,
and His voice is heard even in the storm.
Sometimes His voice is like a roaring wave,
and sometimes His voice is tender.
Today,

I hear the voice of God,

the Creator and King,
and as I begin my day,

I step out into the world.
Toward the Kingdom of God.

시인은 감사와 찬양으로 노래를 시작한다.
시인은 하나님과 자신의 관계를 정확하게 묘사한다.
"그분은 우리 하나님이시고 우리는 그분 목장의 백성들이요,
그분 손에 딸린 양들이다. 너희는 그분의 음성을 들으라."
우리 하나님, 그의 백성.
이보다 더 행복한 관계가 세상. 어디에 밌을까?
시인이 고백하는 하나님은 온우주를 창조하신 분이다.
온 우주의 주인이다.
시인은 이 사실을 알고 있다.
이것만으로도 감사가 넘치는 일이다.
그런데 그 하나님의 백성이 바로 자신이다.
할렐루야!
이제 시인은 세상을 향해 외친다.
"그가 부르거든. 그가 너의 이름을 부르거든
그의 음성을 듣게되면..."
요10장에서 "양은 선한목자의 음성만 듣고 따른다."고
예수님께서 가르치셨다.
오늘 우리에게 하나님의 음성, 나를 부르시는 하나님의 음성이 들리면
우리는 무조건적으로 따라야 한다. 듣고 순종해야 한다.
그 음성의. 주인인 자기백성에게만 들리기 때문이다.
따라서 음성을 듣는 자는 완고해서는 안된다.
그리되면 다른 길은 없기 때문이다

하나님께서 나를 부르신다.
어제도 부르셨고
오늘도 부르신다.
고요한 중에도 그의 음성은 들리고
폭풍 가운데서도 그의 음성은 들린다
때로는 그분의 음성은 노도와 같고
때로는 그분의 음성은 다정하다.
오늘 나는 창조주요 왕이신 하나님 음성을 듣고
하루를 시작하며 세상 속으로 나아간다.
