트럼프 대통령 당선자가 선거에서 가짜뉴스에 “인민의 적”이라 규정하고 임기가 남은 FBI 국장을 그대로 둔 상태에서 “언론음모자 반역죄 기소”를 공언한 파텔 변호사를 새 국장으로 30일 지명했다.

트럼프 1기의 마지막 국방장관대행에서 비서실장을 지낸 캐시 파텔은 트럼프 전 대통령의 전략가였던 스티븐 K. 배넌이 진행하는 팟캐스트 ‘rumble’에 출연해 2025년 시작되는 트럼프 2기 대통령 취임 가능성에 대한 토론에서 "우리는 정부뿐만 아니라 언론에서도 음모를 꾸민 자들을 찾아낼 것"이라고 말했다.

파텔은 이어 "그렇다, 우리는 미국 시민들에 대해 거짓말을 한 언론에 나오는 사람들, 조 바이든이 대통령 선거를 조작하는 것을 도운 사람들을 쫓을 것이다. 형사든 민사든 우리가 알아낼 것"이라며 "우리는 실제로 헌법을 이용하여 그들이 우리가 항상 유죄라고 말했지만 결코 저지르지 않았다고 말한 범죄에 대해 그들을 기소할 것이다"고 밝혔다.

트럼프 행정부 종료 후 정부기관을 떠나고 3년 동안 파텔 변호사는 트럼프 내부자로서의 명성을 활용해 온라인 상점에서 동화책 "Kash" 상품을 판매했다.

그는 "King Donald"가 사악한 "Hillary Queenton"에 의해 박해받는 러시아 수사에 대한 동화책을 썼고, 책의 이야기 주인공은 ‘도널드 왕’이며 이를 무너뜨리려는 음모를 폭로하는 "카쉬"라는 마법사에 대한 동화책이다.
