밀 국제가 전년 대비 40% 급등 ‘곡물 인플레’

밀가루 제조용 미국 캔자스 밀이 11월에 40% 이상 올라 최근 6년 내 최고치이며, 선물 가격은 미니애폴리스 곡물 거래소에서 부셸당 10.17달러로 금융위기 2008년 재배 기간 이후 최고 가격이라고 월스트리트저널이 4일 보도했다.

저널은 이어 미 농무부 자료로 미국 내 밀 재고가 전년대비 18% 감소로 2007년 이후 가장 낮은 수준이라며, 가뭄으로 북반구 평야의 봄 밀 수확량이 3분의 1가량 줄었다고 밝혔다.

저널은 가공식품이나 동물 사료로 사용되는 밀(연질 붉은 겨울 밀) 가격은 시카고거래소에서 전년 대비 28% 오른 부셸당 8달러에서 거래되며 2012년 후반 이후 가장 높은 수준이라고 보도했다.

국제 밀 거래에 대해 코메르츠방크의 상품 애널리스트인 카스텐 프리치는 “밀 가격이 계속 오를 것”이라며, 밀 수입국인 일본 이집트 사우디가 이미 대규모 주문을 내며 재고 비축하기 시작했고 밀 생산 수출국인 미국 캐나다 러시아 등에서는 재고 감소가 나타났다고 밝혔다.

저널은 몬태나 작물재배협회 대표가 "연료, 비료, 농약 등 밀 생산비가 당장 25%에서 30%가 증가했고, 신규 작물 가격은 아직 10%밖에 오르지 않았다"고 말했다며, 현재 밀 가격이 부셸당 8달러지만 향후 비용 인플레이션을 예상했다.

국제 밀 가격은 지난해 시카고 상품거래소 10월 16일 거래가가 부셸 당 6.3075달러로 상승하며 2014년 이후 최고점이고, 2016년 저점(3-4달러) 형성 이후 현재까지 지속 상승세이다.

국제 밀 가격은 지난 5월 부셸당 7.425달러로 8년만에 최고치였다.

시카고선물거래소(CBOT) 가격은 10월 18일 1t당 270.35달러로 작년(10월16일)의 230.29달러 대비 17.3% 상승이었고, 11월에 40% 급상승을 보였다.

시카고선물거래가는 이날(10월 18일) 옥수수가 전년의 158.26달러 대비 32.5% 상승해 t당 209.74달러였고, 대두는 t당 449달러로 전년의385.89달러보다 16.3% 상승했다.

International wheat prices soared 40% year-on-year due to 'grain inflation'

US Kansas wheat for flour production rose more than 40% in November, a six-year high, and futures prices stood at $10.17 per bushel on the Minneapolis Grain Exchange, the highest price since the 2008 growing season during the financial crisis, the Wall Street Journal reported on the 4th.

Regarding international wheat trade, Commerzbank commodities analyst Kasten Frich said "wheat prices will continue to rise," said wheat importers Japan, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia have already placed large orders and stockpiling wheat, while wheat producers and exporters, the United States, Canada. In Russia and other countries, inventories have decreased.

"The cost of wheat production, including fuel, fertilizer and pesticides, has risen from 25 to 30 percent right now, and new crop prices have yet to rise by only 10 percent," said the Montana Crop Growers Association president. Dollar, but expected future cost inflation.
