윤석열 대선 조직의 새시대준비위가 “중원을 향해 두려움 없이 몽골 기병처럼 진격”을 밝혀 대선이 정벌로 표현됐다.

윤 후보가 21일 김한길 '새시대준비위원회' 선임을 확정 발표하며, 김 전 새천년 대표가 “국민의힘과 함께하기에는 주저되는 바가 있다고 말씀하는 분들도 적지 않다. 국민의힘도 중원을 향해 두려움 없이 몽골 기병처럼 진격했으면 좋겠다”고 답했다고 발표했다.

윤 후보는 당시 “선거운동은 굉장히 많은 분이 참여해야 한다”면서 공식발표로 직속 기구인 새시대준비위 설치에 대해 “청년과 장년층의 세대 간 일체감, 지역 간 화합을 추진해 나가는 한편 정권교체를 열망하면서도 국민의힘과 함께하기를 아직 주저하는 중도와 합리적 진보, 이분들이 모두 함께할 수 있는 플랫폼을 마련할 것”이라 밝혔다.

김 전 대표 측근은 연합뉴스 통화에서 "영입 인사는 꼭 호남에 한정하는 게 아니라 광범위하게 중도, 탈진보, 합리적 진보 세력을 모으고, 인물과 계층, 성별과 지역을 초월해 모실 것"이라며 "정치활동을 해본 분도 필요하지만 새로운 시대 담론을 담을 수 있는 분을 모시려 한다"고 말했다.

조응천 의원(민주당)은 5월 7일 MBN 인터뷰에서 "몽골 기병은 보급 없이 빠른 말을 타고 가서 약탈하고 해결한다. 영토는 넓어지지만 황폐해진다. 윤석열 검사가 속한 수사팀은 굉장히 빠르지만 지나간 자리에는 아무것도 남지 않는다"며 "수사의 달성을 위해서는 법치주의의 약화도 별로 두려워하지 않는 점에 대해 나는 우려했다"고 말했다.
