한덕수 후보는 한미FTA 체결지원위원장으로 2006년 7월 “한·미FTA 맺으면 GDP가 늘고 세금 수입이 증가, 이렇게 늘어난 정부 재원은 저소득층 위한 사회안전망 확충 쓸 수 있다”고 FTA체결로 국내정치 개조의 레어노믹스의 자유무역 확장 전략을 밝혔다.

한 후보는 상공부 통상관료로 미국 유학했고, 줄곳 미국 자유무역주의 한국 도입에 의존한 국내 경제구조 개편을 주도하며 승진하고 사모펀드와 김앤장을 거쳐 총리에 재선임됐다.

이종섭 후보는 현역 장교로 미국 테네시대에서 '한-미동맹과 방위비 분담' 주제로 정치학 박사에, 방위비 협상에 대해 한미동맹이 '공공재'라며 "주한미군을 위한 비용 분담, 방위역할 분담, 자율성 제한, 책임분담 등 비용 인식·부담 과정에서 상호 신뢰 제고하고 한미동맹 가치를 높여야 한다"고 밝혔다.

이 후보는 2020년 군사학회에 “국내 정치적 요인으로서 반미감정의 촉발 확산 방지 노력은 동맹 발전 중요 요소"라며 "반미구호, 특히 주한미군 철수 등 한미동맹 훼손하는 수준의 주장들이 확산됐고, 이는 반미 세력들에 의한 것으로 이해된다"고 국내 반미운동을 ‘정치적 적’으로 규정했다.

한종훈 후보는 서울대 재학중 고시 합격에 미국 컬럼비아대 로스쿨 LL.M. 졸업과 뉴욕주 변호사로서 미국 출입국 기록과 세관 기록, 한국 출국시 공용여권과 출국 목적 기록 등이 검증 대상이며, 배우자도 미국 변호사라서 가족 기록이 포함된다.

윤 당선자는 발표 당시 "한 후보자는 20여년간 법무부와 검찰의 주요 요직을 두루 거쳤고 수사와 재판, 검찰제도, 업무행정 분야 전문성 쌓아왔다"며 "유창한 영어 실력으로 다양한 국제업무 경험도 가지고 있기 때문에 법무행정이 경제 발전 뒷받침할 수 있는 법무행정의 현대화, 글로벌 표준에 맞는 사법제도 정비해나가는 데 적임자"라며 미국식 사법제도 도입을 밝히며, 미국 유학과 미국 변호사 보유는 언급치 않았다.

윤 당선자는 이후 차량 이동하며 “법무행정에 국제적 커뮤니케이션 원활하게 하기 위해 미국 변호사고 영어도 잘하는, 수사 재판 경험 많은 한 검사장이 가장 적합하다고 판단한 것”이라 추가 설명했다.

한 후보 배우자는 미국 변호사로 김앤장에서 환경 소비자보호 담당이라서 미국 기업이 국내법 단체와의 충돌에서 미 기업 이익을 위한 자리로 보인다.

추경후 부총리 후보는 2003년 은행제도과장으로 미국계 사모펀드 론스타의 외환은행 인수를 주도한 것에 대해 “국익을 놓고 처리했다”고 말했다.

이창용 한국은행 총재 후보는 1일 “미국이 금리 올리는 속도가 빠를 것이라 금리격차가 줄어들거나 역전 가능성 당연하다. 한미 금리격차가 자본 유출에 주는 영향 아직까지 적을 것”이라고 저금리 유지의사를 밝혔다.
