국제통화기금(IMF)이 백신·치료제의 올해 세계경제를 불확실성으로 수정하며 3개월만에 미국 성장률 5.1%로 2.0%포인트 상향조정과 달리 중국 8.1%로 -0.1%포인트 하향조정했고, 유럽도 4.2%로 3개월전 대비 -1.0%포인트 하향했고, 일본은 3.1% 성장으로 0.8%포인트 상향하며 한국도 0.2%포인트 상향해 3.1%로 전망했다.

IMF 수정 전망은 내년 세계경제 4.2% 성장 전망은 그대로 유지하면서도 지난해 성장률을 -4.4%에서 -3.5%로 대폭 변경해 올해 전망치도 불안정을 시사했다.

IMF는 미 워싱턴DC에서 26일 '세계경제 전망' 브리핑으로 "최근 백신 승인이 올해 말 세계경제에 '턴 어라운드' 기대감 높였지만 코비드 재확산과 새로운 변종 바이러스는 우려 사항"이라며 세계경제는 3개월전보다 0.3%포인트 높여 5.5%로 조정했고 미국의 상승폭을 최고로 2.0%포인트 높여 5.1%라고 밝혀 회복기조에서 불확실성을 전망했다.

IMF 전망에 대해 기재부는 언론 브리핑에서 “성장률 전망치 발표 당시에 주요국의 코로나19 집단 면역 형성시기를 3~4분기, 한국은 그보다 조금 늦어질 것으로 예상했다. 집단 면역시기가 늦춰진다면 불안 요인이 될 수 있다”고 26일 밝혔다.

IMF 언론 브리핑은 “불확실성이 여전히 큰 상황”이라며 “회복의 강도는 의료 접근성, 정책지원의 효과, 위기 진입의 구조적 특성에 따라 국가별로 큰 차이”라고 밝혔다.
