Synopsis 시놉시스
윤식의 생일을 맞아 가족들이 집에 모였다. 승민(손자)이는 윤식(할아버지)에게 자신이 직접 쓴 생일카드를 건낸다. 승민이에게 답장을 꼭 쓰기로 약속한 윤식은 영어로 쓰여진 생일카드를 보고 난감해 한다. 친구에게 도움을 요청한 윤식은 승민이에게 영어로 쓴 답장을 전달할 수 있을까?
Every family member gathered to celebrate Yunsik’s birthday. Seungmin (grandson) wrote a letter to say happy birthday to his grandpa Yunsik. All in a fluster, Yunsik promised to write a letter back to Seungmin in English. He asked his friend to help him out. Can Yunsik write back to his grandson in English?

급격한 변화를 따라가지 못하는 어르신들은 사회 구성원들과의 소통에서 쉽게 소외된다. 그 결과 어르신들의 문맹화 현상은 급속도로 확산되고, 젊은이들과의 소통의 끈은 끊어지고 만다. 어르신들과 젊은이들 사이에 생기는 갈등은 결국 서로에 대한 이해 부족에서부터 시작된다. 자신이 누린 문화는 소중하게 생각하고 그렇지 않은 문화에 대해 배척하는 현상은 우리 사회에서 공공연하게 나타난다. 이러한 간극을 줄이기 위해서는 배우는 자세가 필요하다. 아이는 어른의 것들을 배워가며 성장한다. 어른들 역시 아이의 것들을 배우며 공감대를 형성하려 노력해야 한다. 이것이 바로 소통이 아닐까? 젊은이들과 소통한다는 것은 새로운 세대들과 소통한다는 것이다. 자랑스러운 할아버지가 되기 위해 노력하는 이 세상의 모든 할아버지를 응원합니다.
It is easy to be isolated for the elders in the modern society due to the rapid advance and change. Due to that the elders are facing high rate of illiteracy nowadays, which makes them to lose their connection with their younger generation. All the conflicts between the two different generations start from the lack of the understanding of each other. It is common to find people who only cares one’s own value or culture but ignores others’ in our society nowadays. To reduce the gap between the elders and the younger generation, it is important to have an open-mind to learn something from each other. That is, like children learn from their adults, the elders also need to put their effort to learn something new from their younger generation to make social bond with them. The mutual effort of learning something from each other is the real communication. I give due regards to all the Grandpas who try their best to be connected with their younger generation.
