Synopsis 시놉시스
고향으로 돌아가기 전 마지막 날인 노동자, 다마르(30세, 방글라데시, 남)와 서울에서 사채 빚에 쫓겨 도망치듯 제주도로 건너온 진수(30세, 서울, 남)는 처음 일하는 제주도 수협 공판장에서 우연히 마주친다. 몇 개월 전 외국인에게 당한 일 때문에 ‘외국인 다마르’에 대한 공포를 갖고 있는 진수는 그를 멀리하려고 하지만 오히려 다마르는 한국인인 진수에게 편견 없이 친절하게 대하며 그를 챙긴다. 우연히 편의점에서 라면을 먹게 된 둘은, 작은 사건을 계기로 약간의 공감대를 형성하기에 이른다. 다마르는 진수를 위로하려고 밀린 임금을 받아 술 한 잔 더 하자고 말하며 떠나고, 다마르를 기다리던 진수는 편의점에서 장갑을 뒤적이다가 아르바이트생의 눈총을 피해 항구로 향한다.
한편, 밀린 임금을 받기 위해 김 사장(50대)의 집을 찾아간 다마르는 김 사장의 기에 눌려 아무 말도 하지 못하고, 돈은커녕 상처만 입고 도망쳐 나온다. 다시 항구에서 다마르를 만난 진수는 다마르가 마시고 버린 생수병에 묻은 피를 보고, 과거의 트라우마가 살아난다. 둘은 결국 자신의 입장을 주장하며 몸싸움을 벌이지만, 상처만을 안고 각자의 길로 떠난다. 하지만 진수도, 다마르도 갈 곳은 없다.
해장국집에서 혼자 소주를 마시던 진수는 젊은 커플의 싸움에 말려들게 되고, 자신에게 화풀이하는 젊은 남자에게 죄송하다고 말하며 울분을 토해내지만, 젊은이도 진수도, 허무하고 허탈하다.
흰색 차선이 선명하게 보이는 푸른 새벽, 제주도의 해안도로를 비틀거리며 걷는 진수는 자신의 불안한 미래를 보여주듯 차선을 넘나들며 위태로운 발걸음을 힘겹게 내딛는다.
Damar (30, from Bangladesh) who is supposed to go back to his country the next day, and Jinsu (30, from Seoul) who has run away because of money, have come across each other at the fish market in Jeju. Although Jinsu tries to avoid Damar because of ‘a thing’ that happened to him a few months ago, Damar tries to be friendly to Jinsu without any hesitation. One day, they spend some time together at a convenience store, and get a chance to feel sympathy for each other by a small accident. Damar tells Jinsu to wait for him a while. He said he will come back with money that he should get from his old boss and drink together. Waiting for Damar for a while, Jinsu leaves to the harbor.
Damar managed to visit his old boss’s house. But when Damar finally confronts his old boss, he couldn’t even say a word. Damar just bolts outside wounded. Damar comes to the harbor looking for Jinsu, but Jinsu but Jinsu gets confused and traumatic when he sees the bloody water bottle which Damar has thrown away. They fight blaming each other because of a complete misunderstanding. Nothing can be done from the fight and there is no where else to go for both of them.
After a while, Jinsu gets involed in a couple’s fight at a small restaurant. Even though a guy teases and curses Jinsu without any reason, Jinsu apologizes. Even though Jinsu keeps apologizing to the guy, he does not even know to whom he is really apologizing to or whether he is being furious or sorry. Things become empty.
The sun is coming up and now, you can see the lines on the road. It’s dawn. Jinsu stumbles hard on the road without any fear and there is no way out or no where to go ahead of him.
