Dante's "COMMEDIA" (bmlim)
I had read a series of lectures on Dante's "COMMEDIA" which I gave up while reading several pages in my school years.
Although I looked over some part of western theology briefly in the lector's view,
after reading the book from cover to cover during last weekend,
I felt like I am filled more with something sophisticated.
I believe that there is no God and I have understood religions as follows.
Because we live this world in which justice doesn't always win,
people has a hope that there may be a afterlife in which justice must win finally.
Religions have been created and modified by human from the wish .
From the view, I have tried to understand the world with knowledge of sciences
and we can comprehend many(?) natural phenomenons.( In the future we will understand much more )
but I can't (maybe will not) find the answer about how and why we should live.
This book explains it from the christian point of view
and we can get general knowledge( Greek and Roman epics etc. ) needed to read "Divina Commedia".
Futhermore, there are many implications( hope, ethics etc.) for life
I think Dante would like to say that "living a righteous, moral life" itself is The belief in God.
ex) In Paradise Canto XX
Ripheus is a Trojan hero who has nothing to do with christianity
but Dante writes that because he already knows the suffering of Christ on the cross, he is in The Paradise.
and Dante leaves the worst hell for those who turn against friends, he must believe that God never forgive wicked people even if they worship God.
