창세기 26-30장

Genesis Chapter 27-30

Jacob’s family was far from perfect. Rachel and Leah seemed to compete with one another in having children, never stopping to consider that infertility might be part of God’s plan. Like many families, Jacob’s household was so consumed by feelings of insecurity and rivalry that they failed to focus on truly loving one another. What about us? How often do children suffer because of their parents’ unresolved insecurities? Or parents struggle under the weight of their children’s feelings of inadequacy? Unless we encounter God—the one who fills the void in our hearts—we risk carrying that emptiness with us for the rest of our lives.

Genesis 30

1 Now when Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister, and said to Jacob,

"Give me children, or else I die!"

2 And Jacob's anger was aroused against Rachel, and he said,

"Am I in

the place of God, who has withheld from you the fruit of the womb?"

So she said, "Here is my maid Bilhah; go in to her, and she will bear a child on my knees, that I also may have children by her.” Then she gave him Bilhah her maid as wife, and Jacob went in to her.
