창세기 31-33장

Genesis chapter 31-33

Jacob was a man full of fear and clever schemes. Afraid to face his brother Esau, he divided his possessions into two groups, hoping to preserve at least half if things went wrong. He stayed at the back, letting others go ahead. But then, in a life-changing moment, he wrestled with God through the night, refusing to let go until he received a blessing. In the end, Jacob prevailed—not because he overpowered God, but because God, in His grace, allowed it. After all, the Almighty doesn’t lose to anyone; He chose to meet Jacob in his weakness and transform him. Like Jacob, we often rely on our own backup plans and strategies to navigate life’s challenges. But true resolution comes only when we wrestle with God—when we bring our struggles to Him and allow Him to work in our lives. Only then can we find real answers and lasting peace.

Genesis 32: 26-30

26 And He said, "Let Me go, for the day breaks."

But he said, "I will not let You go unless You bless me!"

27 So He said to him, "

"What is your

name?"

He said, "Jacob."

28 And He said,

"Your name shall no

longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed."

29 Then Jacob asked, saying,

"Tell

me Your name, I pray.

And He said,

, "Why is it that you ask

about My name?" And He blessed him there.

30 So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: "For I have seen God face to face, and my life is

preserved."
