지난번에 말씀드렸듯이 3월 말은 음악가들에게 참 잔혹한 것 같습니다. 지난 포스팅 부터 글을 쓰면서도 우울하지만, 약 2주 전 2020년 3월 30일에 세상을 떠난 가수를 소개하려고 합니다.
오늘 얘기할 가수는 빌 위더스 입니다. Bill Withers 의 노래를 들어보시면 엄청 익숙하시겠지만, 우리나라에서 이름까지 기억하시는 분들은 다소 적을 수 있다고 생각합니다. 미국의 싱어송라이터 겸 기타리스트인 빌 위더스는 1970년대 싱어송라이터 운동의 선구자라고 할 수 있습니다. 그레미상을 무려 세번이나 수상했으니 얼마나 대단한 가수인지는 더 이상 말할 필요가 없을 것 같아요. 작곡, 보컬계에 영향을 주었을 뿐만 아니라 힙합 씬에도 긍정적인 영향을 주었다고 감히 얘기하고 싶습니다.
