신명기(Deu) 18장
16. 이것이 곧 네가 총회의 날에 호렙 산에서 네 하나님 여호와께 구한 것이라 곧 네가 말하기를 내가 다시는 내 하나님 여호와의 음성을 듣지 않게 하시고 다시는 이 큰 불을 보지 않게 하소서 두렵건대 내가 죽을까 하나이다 하매
16. For this is what you asked of the LORD your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly when you said, “Let us not hear the voice of the LORD our God nor see this great fire anymore, or we will die.”
17. 여호와께서 내게 이르시되 그들의 말이 옳도다
17. The LORD said to me: “What they say is good.
18. 내가 그들의 형제 중에서 너와 같은 선지자 하나를 그들을 위하여 일으키고 내 말을 그 입에 두리니 내가 그에게 명령하는 것을 그가 무리에게 다 말하리라
18. I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their fellow Israelites, and I will put my words in his mouth. He will tell them everything I command him.
19. 누구든지 내 이름으로 전하는 내 말을 듣지 아니하는 자는 내게 벌을 받을 것이요
19. I myself will call to account anyone who does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name.
20. 만일 어떤 선지자가 내가 전하라고 명령하지 아니한 말을 제 마음대로 내 이름으로 전하든지 다른 신들의 이름으로 말하면 그 선지자는 죽임을 당하리라 하셨느니라
20. But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, is to be put to death.”
Since Moses' great mission of leading the Israelites to the land, Canaan, ended, God continued to pick and send prophets to them, because they said that they were afraid of hearing His voice or see any fire as He often showed Himself from fire or fire-like flames. They must have felt like the fear of death, even on hearing or seeing God face to face.
In reality, there were many who died from His penalties, although it had other reasons.
However, there were other possible problems with the prophets, so-called mediums or channels between God and people. They could make wrong or fake informations or anything in His name that God doesn't order them to say, so God is now warning them not to do it, saying that If they do it, they would be put to death. What a horrible warning message to those who pass His message or Word to His own people.
Nowadays, we have many channels to hear His voice through not only some kinds of versions of bibles but also through a lot of sermons of famous pastors or missionaries, including a lot of so-called religious leaders or even spiritists and so on. Then, how could we differentiate them from good or bad or true or false, or God's message or gods' message?
He simply and clearly speak that if it happens and come true, it is real, but if not, it's a fake. Although they proclaim in His name or in the name of Jesus, that is the message the Lord has not spoken at all.
Amazingly, God has given us the measurement of seeing who is good or bad prophets (including modern self-religious or spiritual leaders). However, more Amazing thing is that He called us as the ones who could hear His voice and see His glory face to face without any help of other mediums, because of His one and only son, Jesus' mediation through His blood.
Thanks to His sacrifice, we don't really need any other prophets or messangers any more because we are now allowed to talk to Him and listen to His voice, boldly asking what we want and wish as His adopted children. Hallelujah!
