추억 노래
수산나는 금희를 좋아했다. 말 많고 재밌는 수산나는 말 없고 밋밋한 금희를 좋아했다. 수산나의 표정과 감정은 다양했지만 금희의 표정은 하나였고 감정도 하나였다. 금희는 팝송 'Words'를 테이프에 복사해 수산나에게 선물했다. 수산나의 입은 함지박만큼 벌어졌다. 금희도 입을 약간 벌려 웃었다.
귀를 약간 가리는 짧은 커트머리, 노란 금속 안경테, 있는 듯 없는 듯 쌍꺼풀, 깨끗한 피부, 주로 아래에 있던 시선, 거의 들을 수 없었던 금희의 목소리.
'악마2'의 악행은 소문으로 자자했다. 악마2 채** 선생님이 중학교 3학년 우리 담임이 되었다. 소문은 사실이었다. 선생님은 온세상을 증오하는 것 같았다. 우리반 아이들 한명한명에게 온 증오를 담아서 말했다. 소녀들의 눈물을 쏙 빼내어야 직성이 풀리는 것 같았다.
이상하게도 악마2가 약해지는 아이 둘이 있었다. 공부 잘하는 착한 반장 미정과 얌전한 금희였다. 악마2는 금희 앞에선 약해졌다. 맨날 담임에게 구박만 받던 우리는 미정과 금희를 미워할 수 없었다. 착했기 때문이다.
