구문 알기
1. 수의 일치
영어에서는 주어와 동사의 수 일치를 상당히 신경쓴다. 위의 문장에서도 주어가 Three grand essentials to happiness in this life 까지 매우 긴데, essentials에서 복수로 주어를 말했기 때문에 다음에오는 동사는 is 가 아닌 are로 처리했다. 그리고 뒤에 따르는 something to do, something to love, and something to hope for. 까지 행복의 조건을 나열하면서 여러가가 있음을 말하고자 하는 바로 잘 나타내었다.
