누가 왔나 봅니다. Someone knocked on the door. 
큰 가방이 배달되었네요. A large bag had been delivered.
가방 안에는 다 쓴 플라스틱 컵과 페트병이 가득합니다. The bag was filled with used plastic cups and PET bottles.
이것들로 무엇을 할지 고민해 봅니다. Considered what to do with these.
트리를 만들기로 했습니다. She had decided to make a tree.
짜잔! 완성입니다. Ta-da! The plastic cup tree was completed!2023년을 마무리하며 제작한 한 페이지 만화입니다. 2023년 저의 작은 실천이라면 플라스틱 컵 대신 텀블러를 적극 사용하려 했지만 생각보다 쉽지 않음을 매번 느꼈습니다. 어느 순간에는 만약 카페에서 아예 컵을 제공하지 않으면 어떨까 하는 생각도 한 적이 있습니다. 일회용 식기를 아예 살 수도, 구할 수도 없다면 어쩔 수 없이 자신의 용기와 컵을 가져와야 하니 번거롭더라도 문화로 정착하는 날이 오지 않을까요...? 실현 가능성은 희박하겠지만요.
Here is a one-page comic I made to wrap up 2023. If there was one small practice I aimed for in 2023, it was actively using a reusable tumbler instead of plastic cups. However, I found it more challenging than I thought each time. There were moments when I wondered, what if cafes stopped providing disposable cups altogether? Even if it's difficult to buy or find alternatives for disposable utensils, there might come a day when, despite the inconvenience, bringing one's own cup becomes a cultural norm. It sounds impossible, but who knows what the future holds.
한 페이지 코믹의 스토리는 국민대학교에 작년과 올해 설치된 트리에서 영감을 얻었습니다. 작년에 플라스틱 재활용 컵으로 설치된 트리가 참으로 인상 깊었는데 올해는 종이상자와 종이로 된 멋진 트리들이 전시 중입니다. 물론 곳곳에서 다양한 멋진 장식의 트리들을 심심찮게 보게 되는 연말이지만 저에게는 이들 재활용 트리가 가장 인상 깊게 남았네요.
어느 날은 따뜻하다가 어느 날은 무지 춥다가 하는 이상기후가 우리 자신 때문은 아닐까 생각이 듭니다. 2024년에는 좀 더 각성하여 실천하는 한 해가 되길 바라봅니다. :)
The story of the one-page comic drew inspiration from the trees installed at Kookmin University last year and this year. The tree made of recycled plastic cups last year left a lasting impression, but this year, there are wonderful trees made of paper boxes and paper on display. While the end of the year brings various beautifully decorated trees all around, these recycling trees have left the most lasting impression.
One day it's warm, and the next day it's unbearably cold. I can't help but think that the erratic climate is somehow related to our own actions. In 2024, I hope for a more awakened year where we actively contribute to saving the environment. :)
