When I was fifteen, sixteen, when I really started to play the guitar I definately wanted to become a musician.
내가 15살, 16살쯤, 제대로 기타를 연주하기 시작했을 무렵에, 나는 무조건 뮤지션이 되고 싶었다.
It was almost impossible because the dream was so big I didn't see any chance Because I was living in a little town,
거의 불가능했지. 그 꿈은 너무나 컸고, 나는 작은 도시에 살고 있었기 때문에 일말의 기회도 찾을 수가 없었어.
I was studying And when I finally broke away from school And became a musician,
나는 공부만 하다가, 마침내 학교를 그만두고 뮤지션이 됐을 때,
I thought "Well, I may have a bit of a chance" Because all I every wanted to do is music But not only play music, but compose music
생각했어. "음, 이제야 좀 기회가 생기겠군" 왜냐면 내가 하고 싶었던 건 음악을 연주하는 것 뿐만 아니라, 음악을 만드는 것까지 였으니까.
"At that time, in Germany, in 1969-70 They already had discotheques So I would take my car and go to a discotheque And sing maybe 30 minutes I think I had about 7-8 songs
1969~70년, 그때 당시 독일에는 이미 디스코텍이 있었어. 그래서 난 내 차를 끌고 디스코텍에 가서 30분정도 공연을 했지. 한 7~8곡쯤 있었던 거 같아.
I would partially sleep in the car Because I didn't want to drive home And that help me for about almost 2 years to survive. In the beginning,
기꺼이 차 안에서 쪽잠을 잤어. 집으로 다시 차끌고 돌아가고 싶지 않았거든. 그게 처음 거의 2년 정도는 먹고 사는데 도움이 됐지.
I wanted to do an album With the sound of the 50s, the sound of the 60s, of the 70s And then have a sound of the future And I said,
난 50년대, 60년대, 그리고 70년대의 사운드를 가지고 앨범을 만들기 원했어. 그리고나서는 미래의 사운드를 가지고 싶었어. 난 말했지.
"Wait a second I know the synthesizer, why don't I use the synthesizer Which is the sound of the future?"
"잠깐만, 난 신디사이저를 알잖아. 신디사이저를 사용하면 어떨까? 그게 미래의 사운드잖아?"
And I didn't have any idea what to do But I knew I needed a click so we put a click on the 24 track Which was then synch to the Moog modular
어떻게 해야겠다는 아무 아이디어도 없었지만, 난 클릭 소리가 필요하다는 건 알았지.(박자를 세기 위한) 그래서 우린 24개 트랙 위에 클릭 소리를 얹고 그걸 Moog 모듈러에 싱크시켰지.
I knew that it could be a sound of the future But I didn't realize how much impact it would be
난 그게 미래의 사운드가 될 수 있다는 건 알았지만 얼마나 큰 영향력을 불러올지는 깨닫지 못했어.

때문에 아무도 내게 무엇을 해야 한다고 말할 수 없었고,
애초에 어떻게 해야한다는 전제 자체가 없었던 거야.
