Above: Higher than a point. The picture hangs above the fireplace.
Across: From one side to the other. She walked across the street.
Against: In opposition to. She leaned against the wall.

Along: Moving in a constant direction on (a path or any more or less horizontal surface). We walked along the beach.
Amid: Surrounded by; in the middle of. The castle is set amid lush gardens.
Among(amongst): In the company of; surrounded by.

Around: Located or situated on every side. The fence runs around the property.

Behind: At the back of. The sun disappeared behind the clouds.

Below: Lower in spatial position than. The temperature was below freezing.
Beneath: Directly under. The valley is beneath the mountain.
Beside: At the side of; next to. She sat beside her sister.
Beyond: On the farther side of; past. The road continues beyond the village.
But: Except; apart from; other than. Everyone but John was invited.

Considering: Taking into account. Considering the weather, the event was well-attended.

During: Throughout the course or duration. He fell asleep during the movie.

Except for: Were it not for. The room was clean except for some dust.

Notwithstanding: In spite of; despite
