나의 '축구'로운 영국 생활
토트넘 경기 직관 후기 + 우당탕 축구 클럽 이야기 한 스푼을 더한 +
영국에서 만난 사람들에게 늘 듣는 질문 중에 하나가 "왜 영국으로 오시게 되었나요?"라는 질문이다. 영어로 이야기하든, 한국어로 이야기하든 내 대답은 같다. 축구를 좋아해서. 다른 국가가 아닌 영국 워홀로 오게 된이유는 여러 가지가 있겠지만, 그 중에서도 축구는 큰 비중을 차지한다. 한국에서도 K리그를 즐겨 봤고 영국 오기 직전까지 토트넘의 방한 친선 경기를 놓치지 않고 모두 직관했다.
One of the questions that I always get from people is "Why did you come to England?Whether I talk in English or Korean, my answer is the same. Because I love football. There are many reasons for coming to the UK. But Football has a large proportion of them. I also enjoyed the K League in Korea, and I watched all Tottenham's friendly match in Korea until before I came to the UK.
영국에 와서 직장과 집을 구한 뒤 처음 한 것은 토트넘 훗스퍼 멤버쉽 가입과 표를 예매하는 것이었다. 토트넘 경기를 예매하기 위해서는 여러(?) 어둠의 경로가 있을 수 있겠지만, 토트넘 공식홈페이지(이하 공홈)에서 멤버쉽 가입 후 예매해야 한다. 토트넘 멤버쉽은 총 6가지 종류로 구분된다. 연령대별로 Junior, Adult, Senior로 구분되고 일반 멤버쉽인 One hotspur와 혜택이 조금 추가된 One hotspur +로 나뉜다. 차이는 플러스의 경우 티켓 오픈 날짜가 조금 더 일찍 열리고 굿즈가 도착한다는 점이다. 하지만, 나는 돈을 벌러 온 워홀러, 돈을 아껴야 했기 때문에 One hotspur로 가입했다. 가입하면 이렇게 회원 번호가 생성된다.
The first thing I did after I came to the UK is get my job and a house to live. And then I joined the Tottenham Hotspur membership and book tickets. There may be several dark paths(?) to book Tottenham games, but you have to book a ticket after signing up for a membership on Tottenham's official website. Tottenham membership is divided into six categories. It is divided into Junior, Adult, and Senior by age group, and is divided into One hotspur, a general membership, and One hotspur + with a little added benefits. The difference is that in the case of Plus, the ticket opening date opens a little earlier and goods arrive. However, I joined One hotspur because I had to save money. This is the way that the membership number is created when you sign up.
Hello Yoonji! 나의 가입 고유번호가 이렇게 생성된다영국에 와서 지금까지 4번의 경기를 직관했는데 가장 기억에 남는 경기는 토트넘 vs 웨스트햄 경기였다. 토트넘이 이긴 게임이기도 했고, 상대편 팀이지만 개인적으로 좋아하는 데클란 라이스 선수도 직관할 수 있는 좋은 기회였기 때문이다. (덕분에 눈이 즐거웠다!) 올해 2월 20일에 토트넘 홈경기장에서 토트넘과 웨스트햄 경기가 열렸다. 당시에 토트넘은 부진한 경기 성적과 쏘니의 교체 선수 투입으로 나 또한 조금은 무거운 마음으로 경기장에 임했다. 경기 초반 웨스트햄이 기선을 제압했지만 후반에 들어서는 토트넘의 공세가 계속되었다. 후반 10분 호이비에르가 하프라인 뒤에서 상대 수비 뒷공간으로 패스했다. 이어 후반 26분 케인이 상대 진영 중앙에서 상대 수비 뒷공간으로 패스했다. 손흥민이 상대 박스 앞에서 이를 앞쪽으로 잡아둔 뒤 상대 박스 중앙에서 공을 차 넣었다. 결국 경기는 2-0 토트넘의 승리로 마무리 되었다. 내가 가장 애정하는 선수, 손흥민 선수의 가장 큰 장점은 스프린트다. 스프린트는 짧은 순간에 최고의 속도를 뜻한다. 손흥민 선수는 한 경기의 20번 이상의 스프린트를 기록하고 있다. 최대 31번의 스프린트를 시도한 적도 있다고 한다. 시속 35km/h 라고 한다. 얼마나 빠르고 날렵한 지는 경기 직관과 숫자로 증명이 되는 거 같다.
I've watched four matches so far since I came to the UK. And the most memorable match was Tottenham vs West Ham. He also tried up to 31 sprints. It is 35 km/h. How fast and agile it is seems to be proven by the intuition and numbers of the game.
영국에 온 이후로 무려 4번의 직관을 할 수 있는 영광을 얻었다.

하지만 매 경기를 경기장에서 직관하기는 쉽지 않다. 경기장 만큼은 아니지만, 영국인들의 생생한 응원과 열정적인 분위기를 느끼기 위해는 '펍'으로도 충분하다!

영국의 축구 중계
축구가 국민 스포츠인 만큼 영국에서는 TV만 틀면 프리미어 리그를 볼 수 있을 줄 알았다. 그러나 영국에서도 BBC 같은 일반 채널에서는 축구 중계를 잘 하지 않고, 별도의 유료 스포츠 채널에서 주로 중계를 한다. 대표적인 중계 채널로 '스카이 스포츠(SKY Sports)'와 '비티 스포츠(BT Sport)'가 있는데, 대체로 스카이 스포츠는 프리미어 리그 경기를, 비티 스포츠는 프리미어 리그 일부와 '유럽 챔피언스 리그(UEFA Champions League, 유럽 대륙 최고의 프로 축구 팀을 가리는 대회)' 경기를 중계하는 식으로 중계권이 채널별로 나눠져 있다. 항상 그런 것은 아니니 보고자 하는 경기가 있다면 사전에 어느 채널에서 그 경기가 중계되는지 확인을 해야 한다.

As football is a national sport of England, I thought I could watch the Premier League just by turning on the TV in England. However, even in the UK, regular channels such as the BBC do not broadcast football well, but mainly broadcast on separate paid sports channels. Typical broadcasting channels include "SKY Sports" and "BT Sports," where broadcasting rights are divided by channel, with Sky Sports broadcasting Premier League games, and BT Sports broadcasting parts of the Premier League and UEFA Champions League, so if there is a game you want to watch, you should check which channel the game is broadcast on in advance.

Sky Sports영국의 대표 축구 중계 채널은 스카이 스포츠와 비티 스포츠 이렇게 2가지로 크게 분류된다. 한 채널만 가입해서는 토트넘의 모든 경기를 볼 수 없다. 그렇기 때문에 내가 선택한 방법은 바로 '펍 (Pub)'!
So football broadcasting channels are largely divided into two categories: Sky Sports and BT Sports. I can't watch all of Tottenham's matches if I sign up for one channel. That's why I chose "Pub"!

Wimbledon 역 근처 스포츠펍엔틱함과 캐주얼함이 동시에 느껴지는 매우 영국스러운 공간, 펍(Pub). 그 펍 중에는 TV로 스포츠 채널을 중계하는 펍들이 있다. 아무리 축구를 사랑하는 영국인들이라도 각 가정에서 여러 개의 스포츠 채널을 가입하는 것은 부담스러운 일일 것이다. 그들을 위해 펍에서 대신 스포츠 중계 채널에 가입하고 펍을 찾은 손님들이 볼 수 있도록 축구 경기를 틀어 준다. 구글에는 원하는 위치에 기반해 인근 지역에서 축구 중계 채널을 보유한 펍들을 쭉 보여주는 사이트들이 있다. 특히 비티 스포츠에는 자체 웹사이트에서 비티 스포츠에 가입한 펍들의 리스트를 게시했다. 일명 비티 스포츠 펍 파인더 (BT Sport Finder). 비티 스포츠를 포함해 스포츠 중계 펍을 알려주는 사이트들은 펍의 위치와 영업 시간 등의 기본 정보는 물론이고 그 펍에서 어떤 채널에 가입했고, 각 채널에서 언제 무슨 경기를 보여주는 지까지도 알려 주었다. 예약이 가능한 펍은 예약까지 한 번에 할 수 있게 마련되어 있는, 기대 이상으로 정성스럽고 유용한 사이트들이었다. 나 또한 무한 축구 사랑으로 자주 펍에 가 축구 경기를 즐겨 본다. 최근 브라이튼으로 여행 가 로컬 펍에서 챔피언스리그 결승전을 지켜 보았다. 22/23년 시즌 프리미어리그 1위를 차지한 맨시티 답게 강력한 인터밀란에게도 굴하지 않고 후반 23분 로드리의 결승골로 UCL 첫 우승을 이끌어 내었다. 올 시즌 EPL과 잉글랜드축구협회 FA컵에서 우승한 맨시티는 잉글랜드 팀으로는 1998-1999시즌 맨체스터 유나이티드(맨유)에 이어 2번째로 유럽 트레블(3관왕)을 이뤄냈다.
A very British space where you can feel antique and casual at the same time, Pub. Among the pubs are that broadcast sports channels on TV. It would be burdensome for football-loving Brits to subscribe to multiple sports channels in each household. For them, the pub instead subscribes to a sports broadcasting channel and plays football games for guests who visit the pub to watch. In Google sites, you can find the pubs with football broadcasting channels in nearby areas based on location. In particular, BT Sport posted a list of pubs which joined BT Sport on its website. BT Sport Finder, also known as BT Sport Finder. Sites that inform sports broadcast pubs, including BT Sports, have not only basic information such as the location and business hours of the pub, but also what channels they have subscribed to, and when and what games they show on each channel. The reservation-enabled pubs were more elaborate and useful than expected, with reservations available at once. I also enjoy watching football games in pubs with infinite love of football. I recently traveled to Brighton and watched the Champions League final at a local pub. Rodri's winning goal in the 23rd minute of the second half led to his first UCL victory, not giving in to InterMilan, who was as strong as Manchester City, who topped the Premier League in the 22/23 season. So Manchester City is the second English team which won the EPL and FA Cup this season, and win a European Treble (three gold medals) after Manchester United in the 1998-1999 season.
경기장, 펍 등 다양한 곳에서 진정한 축구 사랑을 보이는 영국인들을 보면서 나 또한 축구에 대한 애정이 더 끓어 오른다. 축구를 하는 것도 좋아하는 나는 축구 클럽에도 가입하였다. 그 이야기는 다음 글에서 찾아 볼 수 있을 것이다. 어릴 때부터 드넓은 공원에서 축구를 하고 늘 경기장을 꽉 매우며, 펍에는 늘 맥주 한잔과 함께 생생한 축구 경기를 볼 수 있는 영국. 그러한 열정들이 모여 축구 종주국이라는 오랜 자부심을 지켜 나가고 있는 것은 아닐까?
Watching English people who showing true love for football makes me also feel more affection for football. I also joined the football club because I love to play football. And you can find the story which will be found in my next brunch story. England, where you can play football in a large park from an early age, always squeeze the stadium, and always watch a live football game with a beer in a pub. I think those passions gathered to make the long-standing pride of being the center of country of football.
