4월, 스웨덴 스톡홀롬 여행기 (1)
영국에서의 부활절(Easter)은 우리나라의 대명절 추석과 같다. 예수 그리스도가 십자가에 못 박혀 죽으신 후 3일 만에 부활한 것을 기념하는 날이다. 부활절에 먹는 이스터 에그는 부활절 댤걀을 숨겨 놓고 찾는 축제의 모습에서 착안된 단어라고 한다. 부활절은 춘분 후 만월 다음에 오는 첫 일요일이다. 이번 부활절은 4월 7일부터 10일까지였다. 나는 휴가 하루를 사용하여 4박 5일 스웨덴, 덴마크 여행을 다녀왔다. 한국에서 스웨덴으로 가려면 경유가 필수이며 최소 17시간 이상 걸린다. 영국에 있을 때, 한국에서는 쉽게 다녀올 수 없는 국가를 다녀오자는 마음으로 북유럽 국가 스웨덴과 덴마크를 선택했다. 2시간의 비행 끝에 스웨덴 스톡홀롬에 도착했다. 4월임에도 코트와 패딩을 입어도 이상하지 않은 추운 날씨였지만, 맑은 구름과 따뜻한 햇살이 비치는 맑은 날씨였기에 즐거운 마음으로 여행할 수 있었다.
Easter in the UK is like Chuseok in Korea. It is a day commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ three days after his crucifixion. The term "Easter eggs," referring to eggs eaten on Easter, is said to have originated from the practice of hiding and searching for eggs during Easter festivals. Easter is the first Sunday that follows the full month after the equinox. I went to Sweden and Denmark during this Easter period. To get to Sweden from Korea, It will takes at least 17 hours. When I was in the UK, I chose to visit the Nordic countries, specifically Sweden and Denmark, with the intention of exploring destinations that were not easily accessible from Korea. After a two-hour flight, I arrived in Stockholm, Sweden. Even though it was April, It was too cold weather, But I liked the clear weather with cloudless skies and warm sunshine.
스웨덴의 기차 스톡홀름에 도착했다.스웨덴 도착 후 첫번째 여행지는 세계 최초의 야외 박물관, 스칸센(Skansen)이다. 평소에 동물원이나 박물관을 좋아하지 않는 편이라 기대를 하지 않았는데 생각 외로 너무 즐겁고 유익했다. 스칸센은 한마디로 표현하자면, 스웨덴의 민속촌과 같다. 자연 속에 무스, 순록, 물개, 북극 여우 등 다양한 겨울 동물들을 볼 수 있었고 스웨덴 전통 가옥과 연못까지 완벽했다. 걷다 보니 사람들이 모인 곳이 보였다. 모닥불을 쬐며, 마시멜로우를 굽고 있었는데 향긋한 냄새에 나도 모르게 이미 굽고 있었다. 귀여운 스웨덴 아기들과 따뜻하게 불을 쬐며 먹는 마시멜로우는 정말 꿀맛이었다.
The first destination after arriving in Sweden is Skansen, which is known as the world's first outdoor museum. I didn't expect it because I usually don't like zoos or museums, but it was more enjoyable and beneficial than I had imagined. In one word, Skansen can be described as a Swedish folk village. In nature, I could see various winter animals such as moose, reindeer, seals, and Arctic foxes. Additionally, the traditional Swedish houses and ponds were perfect to me. As I walked, I found a gathering place. They were baking marshmallows while basking in the bonfire. I was baking it too. The marshmallow, with cute Swedish babies and warm fire, was really lovely.
스웨덴 자연 풍경을 모아 둔 스칸센 구경 후에 외스터말름살루할이라는 스웨덴 전통 재래시장에 도착했다. 살루할의 뜻은 식품종합판매장이라고 한다. 종합시장에 걸맞게 연어, 청어, 굴 등 다양한 특산물과 미트볼, 훈제 연어 등 맛있는 음식들이 즐비했다. 나는 그 중 스웨덴의 대표 음식, Gravlax(그라브락스)를 주문했다. 그라브락스는 스웨덴의 전통적인 연어 음식으로 소금과 설탕을 섞어 연어를 저며 서늘한 곳에 며칠 간 보관한 후 딜과 다양한 연어 위에 뿌려 앏게 썰어 먹는 연어 슬라이스다. 레몬향 가득한 연어에 짭짤한 매쉬포테이토에 곁들여 먹으니 정말 완벽 그 잡채였다! 연어를 베어먹을 때 마다 스웨덴스러움을 한입 가득 느낄 수 있어서 좋았다.
After touring Skansen, a collection of Swedish natural scenery, I arrived at a traditional Swedish market called Östermalmsaluhal. Saluhal means comprehensive food store. To cater to the general market, there were a variety of specialties available, including salmon, herring and oysters are delicious, as well as foods likemeatballs and smoked salmon. Among them, I ordered gravlax, the signature Swedish food. Gravlax is a traditional Swedish salmon dish that consists of salmon mixed with salt and sugar, after being stored in a cool place for a few days, the dill and various salmon are sprinkled over and well-sliced. Salmon filled with the scent of lemon, paired with salty mashed potatoes, made for a perfect!
레몬즙과 매쉬포테이토에 곁들여 먹은 연어의 조합은 환상이었다!그 후에는 스웨덴 시청과 성당을 구경다녔다. 핑크빛 노을 지는 시청과 성당은 아름답다는 말로는 부족할 정도로 예뻤다. 우리나라도 노을은 핑크빛이지만 스웨덴에서의 풍경과는 또 다른 느낌이다. 언제 또 있을 지 모르는 아름다운 순간을 포착하려 나는 연신 찍었다. 사진을 보는 지금도 그 때를 떠올리면 꿈을 꾸는 것만 같다.
After that, I visited Sweden City Hall and the cathedral. The pink sunset made the city hall and cathedral so breathtakingly beautiful that words alone couldn't do justice to their splendor. I took pictures in succession to capture the beautiful moments that may not occur again. Even as I look at the picture now, I feel like I'm dreaming when I think back to that time.
스웨덴 시청 가는 길목에서그 다음날에는 스웨덴 왕궁 (Kungahuset)에 갔다. 보통 왕국하면 영국을 먼저 떠올리곤 하는데, 영국 말고도 스웨덴, 덴마크, 스페인, 오스트리아 등 다양한 유럽 국가에는 군주제가 있다. 직접적인 통치권은 없지만, 그래도 왕의 존재를 인정하고 왕위를 계승하고 있다. 스웨덴 왕권은 영국에 비해 잘 알려지지 않아 더욱 궁금했다. 스톡홀름 왕궁은 영국 버킹엄 궁전과는 또다른 분위기를 가지고 있었다. 건물 양식은 고풍스러웠으며, 파란 하늘과 연결 다리 사이로 반사되는 호수는 아름다운 자연 풍경을 느끼기에 충분했다. 연신 이곳 저곳을 찍으면서 나를 담아내곤 했다. 그리고 매일 오후 1시 15분에 시작되는 근위병 교대식을 기다렸다. 영국과는 또 다르게 대부분 푸른빛의 군복을 입고 줄을 지어 제식하는 근위병들을 보면서 또 다른 느낌의 스웨덴식 왕궁을 느낄 수 있었다. 하얀색 백마를 탄 대장과 함께 등장하는 기마병 부대, 태양에 반사되는 은색 투구와 검, 스웨덴인 특유의 하얀 피부와 투구 밖으로 삐쳐 나온 금발머리, 다리가 길고 늘씬한 말들은 마치 영화 '반지의 제왕'에서 나온 엘프의 파병 장면을 보는 듯했다. 근위병 교대식 곡은 모두 웅장하며 힘찼고 제식하는 군인들의 모습은 칼각 그 자체였다. 칼각 하는 군인 언니의 모습에 나조차 반해버릴 정도였다.
The following day, I visited the Swedish palace (Kungahuset). Usually, when you think of the kingdom, you tend to think of Britain first. However, it is important to note that various European countries, including Sweden, Denmark, Spain, and Austria, also have monarchies. The Swedish monarchy was even more curious because it was not well known compared to Britain. The Royal Palace of Stockholm has a distinct atmosphere compared to Buckingham Palace in the UK. The antique building style, along with the reflection ofthe lake between the blue sky and the connecting bridge, was enough to make one feel the beauty of the natural scenery. As I watched the guards, dressed in blue uniforms and lined up, I couldn't help but experience another waveof awe for the Swedish palace. The horseman's troops, led by a captain on a white horse, had silver armor and swords that gleamed in the sunlight. The unique white skin of the Swedish, with blond hair sticking out from the pitch, along with their long-legged, slim horses, seemed to resemble the Elf's dispatch from the movie "The Lord of the Rings." The changing of the guard was magnificent and powerful, and the appearance of the ritualized soldiers was assharp as the angle of a sword. I fell in love with her, who had a sharp-cut military style.
하늘빛의 스웨덴 궁전에서 스웨덴스러움을 한껏 느끼며 여행 1일차를 마쳤다. 다음 스웨덴 여행기는 더 다양한 이야기로 돌아올 예정이니 많은 관심 부탁드립니다.
