나는

하나의 숨결

숨결을 토해내는 순간,

그 숨결은 네 가지 빛으로 물결치네.

물(水)은 나의 고향

달빛처럼 출렁이며

모든 생명을 품고 흐르네.

땅(地)은 나의 몸

별의 재로 이루어진 살과 뼈,

그 위에 생명이 집을 짓네.

불(火)은 나의 심장

사랑과 분노,

모든 감정을 태우는 불꽃

바람(風)은 나의 영

보이지 않으나 모든 것을 흔들며,

사유와 노래를 실어 나르는 길

나는 이 네 가지의 춤으로 존재를 즐기지.

흐르고, 타오르고, 흔들리고, 서 있으면서

무수한 ‘나’를 경험하네.

그러나 벗이여,

이 춤이 완벽한 원으로 연결되는 순간,

모든 원소는 다시 하나로 녹아들지.

그 하나가 곧 공(空)

공은 비어 있으나,

그 비어 있음 속에

모든 색과 소리가 쉬고 있네.

그리하여 나는 알지.

물은 곧 공,

땅도 공,

불과 바람 또한 공

나는 나뉘어 세상을 체험하지만,

결국은 하나의 숨

그 숨,

그 고요한 숨이

나의 본래 이름

이를 알면

네 가지 빛도

나의 본래 모습

Who Am I? (42)

I am

a Single Breath

The moment I exhale,

my breath ripples into four lights.

Water — my birthplace,

shimmering like moonlight,

cradling all life as it flows.

Earth — my body,

flesh and bone made of star-ash,

upon which life builds its home.

Fire — my heart,

a flame that burns love and anger alike,

turning all emotion into light.

Wind — my spirit,

unseen, yet stirring all things,

carrying thought and song across the void.

I dance through these four —

flowing, blazing, trembling, standing still —

tasting the infinite faces of myself.

But, my friend,

when this dance completes a perfect circle,

all elements melt into one —

and that One is Emptiness (空).

Emptiness is hollow,

yet within its hollow stillness,

every color, every sound rests in peace.

Thus I know:

Water is emptiness,

Earth and Fire, Wind as well —

all dissolve into the same clear breath.

I may divide myself to taste the world,

but I am forever one breath —

that silent breath,

my true name.

And when this truth is known,

the four radiant lights

reveal my original face.
