New York, New York!
뉴욕사진들
오래간만에 사진 blog 를 올리게 되는군요. 늦은 봄부터 이른 여름사이의 사진들입니다. 대부분 Soho 지역을 배경으로 합니다.
Jane Jacobs 가 이런 말을 했습니다: "Cities need old buildings so badly it is probably impossible for vigorous streets and districts to grow without them.... for really new ideas of any kind--no matter how ultimately profitable or otherwise successful some of them might prove to be--there is no leeway for such chancy trial, error and experimentation in the high-overhead economy of new construction. Old ideas can sometimes use new buildings. New ideas must use old buildings."
Jane Jacobs 의 전문영역인 도시계획을 감안하여 위 글을 주관적으로 해석하면 이렇습니다: "오래된 건물들이 없다면 지금의 도시들이 가진 활기찬 거리들과 공간들 또한 존재하지 않겠지요. 도시계획에 대한 새로운 아이디어가 무엇이든간에 - 그 아이디어가 아무리 수익성이 높거나 성공적이라 평가받더라도 - 지금의 경제적 조건에서는 새것과 오래된 것을 섞는 시도를 통한 시행착오와 실험을 할 여유가 없겠습니다. (어쨌건간에) 오래된 아이디어라도 때때로 새 건물이 필요할 때가 있으며, 새로운 아이디어는 오히려 오래된 건물의 아이디어를 반드시 적용해야 합니다."
