당신은 세파리움의 입주민으로 초대되었다. 입주증을 발급받아 휴게 공간인 아고라에 들어가면 당신을 위해 조성된 자연을 만날 수 있다. 영롱하게 빛나는 자연과 그 잔상은 인간에 의해 쓰고 버려진 것이 쓰였다. 이 조성된 순환처럼 세파리움 내부는 완벽하게 생태계 균형을 맞추고 있고 세파리움의 상징물이자 내부 배양에 성공한 ‘제주고사리삼 Mankyua Chejuense’도 이를 방증한다. 그 가운데에 기념비적으로 전시된 3개의 모니터에서는 다른 번영한 시기에 드린 자문과 대담을 볼 수 있다. 관련해서 세파리움을 관리하는 인공지능(AI) ‘퍼리Purry’에게 궁금한 점을 질문할 수도 있다. 그리고 엘리베이터를 타고 한 층 위로 올라가면 당신의 위해 다른 차원의 용역 업체를 통해 특수 레시피로 제작한 생필품과 그 과정을 만날 수 있다.
참여 작가인 김용원, Disk_Area, 프로젝트 팀 펄은 가상의 공간 ‘세파리움’과 유기적인 관계를 맺으며 인간과 자연, 생태계를 고민한다. 현실에서 온 입주민인 당신은 세파리움 곳곳에 비치되어 있는, 혹은 개인 디바이스로 작가의 작품을 플레이할 수 있다. 만약 운이 좋다면, 관리실 내부 콘텐츠를 열람할 수 있는 ‘코드(code)’를 얻을 수도 있다. 그리고 관리실에는….
현실의 관객은 문래예술공장 박스씨어터 2층과 3층, 그리고 이를 연결하는 엘리베이터를 오가며 메타버스와 XR기술, 인공지능(AI)으로 실재와 가상에서 혼재된 작가의 작품을 만난다. 세파리움은 현실과 가상에 존재하며 그 속에는 인간이 실재하면서 부재한다. 지난 <당신의 현재 위치 - The Door>에서 ‘자연이란 무엇인가’에 관해 질문했다면 ‘The Door’ 속 자연으로부터 분리된 인간 세상인 ‘세파리움Separium’에서 <Separium : Monotypic Humans>은 마치 제주고사리삼처럼 Homo 속 단형의 인간에 관해 고민하며 ‘인간-자연’, ‘인간-생태계’, ‘인간-인간’과 같이 미시적∙거시적 관점에서 분류에 필요한 경계를 조명한다. 그렇다면 인간이란 무엇인가?
You have been invited as a resident of Separium. Upon receiving your residency card, you can enter the Agora, a relaxation area, where you will encounter a meticulously crafted nature. The resplendent nature and its traces have been repurposed from what was once created and discarded by humans. Just like this crafted cycle, the interior of Separium is perfectly balanced in terms of its ecosystem, and the symbol of Separium, the 'Mankyua Chejuense’, cultivated within, attests to this. In the center, you can find three monitors displaying consultations and dialogues given during different prosperous eras. In relation to this, you can also ask questions to 'Purry,' the artificial intelligence (AI) that manages Separium. Furthermore, by taking the elevator one floor up, you can discover the essential products created through special recipes for you, along with the process, through a different-dimensional service provider.
Participating artists Yongwon KIM, Disk_Area, and Project Team Pearl establish an organic relationship with the virtual space 'Separium', contemplating the relationship between humans, nature, and ecosystems. As a real-world resident, you can play the artist‘s works scattered throughout Separium or via personal devices. If you are fortunate, you may obtain the 'code' that grants access to the content within the adminstration office. And inside the Separium administration office...
In the real world, audiences move between the Box Theater on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the ‘Seoul Art Space Mullae’ and the elevator connects them to encounter the artist's works blended in both physical and virtual realms through XR technology, artificial intelligence (AI) and acting performance. Separium exists in both the real and virtual worlds, and within it, humans exist while being absent. If we questioned 'What is nature?' from 'You Are Here - The Door’, then 'Separium: Monotypic Humans' in the world of 'Separium’, which is separate from nature within 'The Door,' contemplates the concept of humans, just like Mankyua Chejuense, pondering on the boundaries required for classification from micro to macro perspectives, such as 'human-nature,' 'human-ecosystem,' and 'human-human.' So, what is a human, after all?
