Vikram Ambalal Sarabhai (1919–1971) was an Indian physicist, visionary, and innovator best known as the father of the Indian space program.
His leadership laid the foundation for what would become ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation), now one of the world’s leading space agencies.

Sarabhai led the effort to establish a space research organization for India:
• Believed that space technology could aid in development, not just military power.
• Initiated India’s first satellite program (resulting in Aryabhata, 1975, launched posthumously).
• Worked with NASA for the Satellite Instructional Television Experiment (SITE) to educate rural India.

• Married Mrinalini Sarabhai, a classical dancer; their daughter Mallika Sarabhai is also a prominent dancer and activist.
