I can say with certainty that getting to know French chanson singer Ms. Dalida was one of the greatest joys I have experienced in my life.
I remember that I first heard her songs when I was young. I think I naturally encountered them through television, radio, cafes, or when I was walking and heard music from a nearby store outside.
Even before knowing this person's name, if you listen to the song, you've probably heard it at least once. I predict that the song 'Paroles' (Words) is one of the songs that is familiar to all ages and genders, regardless of time and place. It's a song that French actor 'Alain Delon' featured in. If I remember correctly, it's probably the most viewed song on Dalida's official YouTube channel.

I must have started actively exploring the actual lyrics of Dalida after I learned the name Dalida as an adult.

It's fun because I can imagine walking along the Montmartre hill in France, strolling along the coast of Portofino in Italy, or looking at the pyramids of Egypt, depending on the song.

I can travel the world by playing music in a sunny outdoor space or a comfortable and quiet room, as long as it doesn't harm the surroundings and other people. As a hobby and at the same time as healing, reciting the lyrics directly out loud and writing them directly on paper with a fountain pen that smoothly draws ink is a great help in improving my second foreign language cognitive ability and becoming familiar with it. I feel the music again more deeply than when I first heard it, and the more I progress, the richer it becomes. Dalida and the lyrics of this song are my French music and French teacher, as well as my French textbook. It may be a good idea to study a grammar book from beginning to end, but I feel that foreign languages are more enjoyable and steady when you approach them by linking them to songs that you like.
As a side note, I have absolute pitch, so I can immediately recall the notes in my head without having to look at the music score separately. When I see Dallia dancing on YouTube and hear the cheerful melody, I get excited and feel like dancing a little. About 99 percent of the time, the singer's heart and actions are full of energy and joy.
On the other hand (the remaining 1 percent), when I think about the lyrics from various aspects, the outside (the cheerful melody and dance) is exciting, but the inside feels a little hazy. It's as if they're trying to hide their insides and look cheerful on the outside.
I don't know if it's a similar metaphor, but it feels like the famous song "Pierrot Laughs at Us" by the national singer of the Republic of Korea, Ms. Kim Wan-sun (‘김완선’ - ‘삐에로는 우릴 보고 웃지’). There's a 2019 remake music video of the song on Kim Wan-sun's official YouTube channel. I really like this song, because not only the lyrics/composition, but also Kim Wan-sun's voice and performance show fantastic synergy. I think everyone will agree. It's a song that many junior singers have already made remake songs. Every line of the lyrics conveys the joys and sorrows, hardships, and bittersweet emotions of people in modern society. For reference, whenever I listen to this song or hear it by chance, I think that the lyrics of this song are truly philosophical and reflect the modern times well. I even imagine in my head that the lyrics are so excellent that they could be included in the text of the College Scholastic Ability Test of Korea.
The same goes for Ms. Min Hae-kyung’s song, “The Face I Want to See” (‘민해경’ - ‘보고싶은 얼굴’),
The melodies of all three songs are cheerful and the dances are more than exciting. The lyrics are philosophical, and if you listen to them more carefully, you can see that the two Korean songs have more Korean emotional lines that only Koreans who use the Korean language can understand than the chansons introduced. In a similar vein, all of the above songs feel like experiences/objects that create a sense of disparity before and after thinking about or learning about reality. I also think of them as iced Americano that adults wouldn’t let me drink when I was a child, so I wondered what it tasted like, but as an adult, I ended up drinking it in more shots or in large quantities for energy transfusion (usually during the week, and on holidays or when I have free time, I drink it in a regular size or decaffeinated form. Thesedays I try not take much caffeine.).
I want to describe it more clearly, but I believe that the readers can guess what it feels like.
In this way, feeling joy and happiness when I accidentally come across my favorite singer and his/her song is a precious experience and healing that elevates my daily mood as I live my life. The experience of increasing my own collection of musicians and songs is truly happy and enjoyable. I’m sure you all have your own artist lists and favorite songs, but I hope you find more joy in accidentally coming across or discovering songs from the other side of the world/new cultures.
