“피는 살아 있는 모든 것들의 생명이기 때문이다...

너희는 그 어떤 생물의 피도 먹어서는 안 된다.

피는 곧 모든 생물의 생명이다.

부디 제가 생명의 피 앞에서 먹고 싶음 유혹이 들거든

그 마음 알아차려주시고, 생명의 경 외로움 앞에서

그 마음 내려놓게 도와주심에 감사합니다.

부디 남들 즐기는 거 왜 나만 못 즐기느냐는 불평이 들거든

그 마음 알아차려주시고, 생명의 감사함 앞에서

그 마음 내려놓게 도와주심에 감사합니다.

If the temptation to consume the blood of life arises,

thank You for helping me recognize that desire,

and gently lay it down in holy reverence before the sacredness of life.

If complaints arise within me, saying,

“Why can others enjoy it but not me?” —

thank You for helping me become aware of that thought,

and surrender it in gratitude for the precious gift of life.
